Just 2 months to go until Chrimbo and it's typically the time of year when the most cash is sadly needed.

Over the years i've done all sorts from 'at home' mystery shopping, canvass peoples houses for the electoral roll, overtime every weekend in my past job and picking up pretty much every online survey I could grab to earn as many Amazon voucher as I could before Black Friday comes around!

Anyone planning to do anything extra to make these last few months a bit easier financially?

I'm the opposite, I work less in the run up to Christmas. I save through the year, which means that I can spend time doing advent competitions, rather than working. I've got a good month's income saved, so I'm all ready. :)
that's some super planning!

I clearly then to 'coast' when it comes to making money online during the Summer months and then get into a sort of 'oh crap I need to make some money' frenzy from November lol

I re-opened my Etsy shop after a 6-month hiatus last month, but I'm way down on last year. I'm guessing people not being stuck inside on lockdown is a major contributor to that. I made around £1000 between Oct-Dec last year selling prints, but if I make £250 this year I'll be amazed.

Really would like to be earning at least an extra £10 a day but not sure where that will be coming from.

Is your Etsy product seasonal?

Is there anything you can do to improve the SEO of your listing in terms of how it ranks on there (and on Google)?

I've going to do a mass cull of grandsons toys and put them on gumtree. Some stuff he's only bothered with on the first day he got them then went onto more exciting stuff such as anything shiny in grandads tool box. So a decent bargain for a local buyer cos in good nick and a few bob towards the next lot

good thinking that

Gumtree is ACE for local sales i've always found, managed to get rid of stuff that i've listed in the morning by the afternoon!

I don't do anything now. In fact I'm hoping to pack in work altogether next year. However, about 15 years ago I signed up to help the Royal Mail in the run-up to Christmas.

My son was around 16 at the time, and to be honest I really only did it to encourage him to apply for it and get some experience. He was at school and when he finished school his mum would run him over to my work and when I finished we went over to the local sorting office and worked. It was a real eye-opener to the amount of mail that they get. It was real hard graft, but handy for the extra money and my son was over the moon with the cash.

I remember being 16 and my dad saying I should go out and do postal routes at Christmas as they ALWAYS want staff (and I had delivery experience cos I did a paper round from 13 years old!). I chose to be a waiter instead BUT I've always remembered that and recommended it to other parents who have kids of a similar age and are looking for work!

We were working in the sorting office sorting the letters. The amount of postage and how it increases the closer we get to Christmas was unbelievable. There was also a machine in there that was constantly jamming and tearing letters to shreds. Certainly explained how so much post goes missing!

You would think there is a good money in signing up to become an Amazon Flex delivery driver for a few month as you must make a huge amount from Black Friday week to the end of the year!

It feels difficult making plans again this year, so I'm doing bits here and bits there and trying to stay flexible and open to opportunities..

Yeah I think being flexible is going to be key this year. If you can up that income before December then all the better no matter what the outcome is!

I just did my first shift on Cambly today. I applied for Cambly Kids as it pays a bit more and I'm just used to kids. I ended up taking calls with two adults who were very nice and easy to chat to.
Fingers crossed I can best my target again on November, got so much to pay out for.

All the major supermarkets take on extra seasonal staff for Christmas. I don't imagine this year would be any different. Worth considering if anyone needs extra cash.

My first job was as a Christmas temp at Woolworths when I was 16, earning the princely sum of £2.88 an hour.

More recently while between jobs I did the Christmas season with UPS helping a driver with deliveries. It wasn't what I expected. He picked me up at the beginning of the shift then drove to a central point where he kicked me out with a big trolley full of parcels to deliver. He drove around delivering in his van while I had to plod round in the pissing rain pushing a trolley. Then we'd meet up at lunchtime and drive to another place where I got another trolley load. The addresses weren't even that close together. Would never do that again.

I don't think so. Sorry is this thread only for seasonal work. It's a great way to earn extra cash though.

No I just wondered if there was a rush of people on the platform wanting to learn in the run up to the end of the year :)
