Ive been signed up for user testing for a couple of weeks, ive done a couple of tasks and already had a payout for one.

I just did one tonight and i think i really bombed, there were load of tasks so i was pausing, reading the tasks and then starting again which i hope was ok as reading all of the task at the same time as using the website was full on as there was 28 tasks to get through. At one point it was like my head just went completely blank and all i could think of was... 'carry on talking, tell them what your doing', hopefully it was only seconds but it felt like ages! I really like how different testing the websites are verbally, but i really get nervous, is that bad? Other than my toddler, adult talk is non existent during the day!

I hope its not too bad of a review, it didnt help that it was a website i hadnt been on before (but i guess thats the point!) but some of the tasks they asked for i just couldnt figure out how to do on the website and i just couldnt find but im thinking perhaps that was the point?

ah...sorry just wanted to rant to someone :(

don't worry about it [member=1731]cleofish123[/member] - it happens all the time to me

Something throws me off track while I am doing it and my mind goes blank while I try to find my way and I mumble into the Mic.

I'm pretty sure they expect things to go wrong naturally with this sort of stuff or why else would we be testing the user experience ;)

I've only done 2 for them because my rating for the first was so awful.

I had to download a new version of a popular browser and test it but I couldn't find one of the things they wanted me to test.
It turned out my settings had transferred to the new version (even though it was essentially a completely different programme) and hidden it :D

I have never had one turned down for payment yet if that reassures you but I am a chatterbox and it only throws me when they ask for something that I can't find and then I wonder what to say, is it me am I being thick here etc that part is in my head so I usually say something like well that isn't obvious to me I will just look under such a thing etc etc then I move on. They are great at getting back to with any questions you may have too. Also payment is as they say to the minute 7 days after. I just find a lot of the time I hear the bing noise for notification of a new test and even though accepted straight away it's not available.... have to me lightning fast also a lot are during the early hours of the morning eg 4 am.

Read the tasks if they're provided before hand, this also stops you talking about something before you're asked to in the tasks.
Remember if you just freeze completely you can always pause it to regather your thoughts, what I tend to do is reread the task instruction out loud (if it's allowed) and then gives me the extra thinking time.

I signed up to User Testing at the end of May this year.

I've completed several tests for them so far, most of the ones which come up are for the App which I don't have. But the computer ones are really straightforward, most of the ones I've done are only 5 mins.

They always pay out weekly and on time. To their credit I really mucked up on a test and cancelled it before I was finished. I reported it to them and they still paid my $10 the following week.

You would need to be logged in throughout the day to have the best chance of catching the tasks when they appear. You can have the website running in the background and you'll hear a "ding" when a new test pops up.

I only manage an hour or so each night otherwise I'd do a lot more testing for them, but every little helps :) It's quite fun to give your opinion on websites as well so I enjoy it!

I've signed up recently and completed 2 tests so far - 1 pc and 1 app, both paid with no problems. I find it frustrating that once you submit a test you can't work on another one until its been reviewed but other than that it seems a decent site.

I agree with you on that [member=1619]SarahLu[/member] Sometimes about 5 come through at once and you know you can't do them ::)

Completely agree. I guess they do need to verify the quality of the review, but having 5-6 jobs sitting there and only being able to do one is a bit of a shame!

Does anyone use the app for Android already? Is it quite straightforward to use?

I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and didn't go for app originally in case it slowed my phone down or used too much data etc
