Anyone planning to work harder? Find new avenues of making money from home? Stepping outside their comfort zone more?

I wonder if survey sites like prolific will offer less work as less people will be at colleges around the world.

Maybe there will be less mystery shopping or task app work as companies try to cling onto every bit of money they can over the next few months

is it making you think and panic about if you should be doing more?

I'm pretty much stuck indoors from now until it's all over. Daughter has cystic fibrosis and has been told to self isolate to protect herself by the hospital, so there's no point in her staying in if I go out and catch it. So, I've got lots of time to do more work, just to kill the boredom mainly. I'm used to going out for long walks every day, so I could get a bit bored. S'pose I could take meself off to the middle of nowhere for a walk, but how would I get there as I can't drive. The bus? Nope - I'm stuck!

I was only thinking about this last night. I've just been accepted to do the 3 day 50 messages trial for Operatorchat, I'm so hoping they keep me on because business is going to be booming for those kind of jobs when we're all locked up in our homes.

I think that Prolific will probably be busier than ever as students catch up/get ahead on the research element of their theses. I'm certainly hoping to at least run to time if not get ahead with my own PhD over the next six months (unfortunately, it's not one that could benefit from a Q&A...sorry).

I have a horror that many of us are going to be largely stuck at home for six months or more. I'm astonishingly lucky to have a few large parks nearby (got to love South East London) so I'm planning to go out for a long walk every day. However, with a high risk parent living with me, and relying on me for light care, I feel a moral obligation to completely curtail the rest of my social and outside work activities.

I'm doubling down on everything I do, plus getting as many online courses ready to go as I can (although these will be longer term as of course they need to be good enough to actually make me money!). I'm also teaching singing via Zoom from the week after next. Anyone that's got a niche skill, I recommend you do the same - folk are going to be bored and desperate for something to do, such as learn something new.

It's going to be tough. The only upside I can see is that *everybody* is going to be taking the bulk of their operations online for some time, so there will be the likelihood of more microtasking type jobs at the very least.

I always call 'long walks' a 'sanity stroll' since I've been self employed as it gets you out of the house and helps clear your head!

I guess for a lot of people who are self-isolating (or with family that are) that's going to be a big thing!

yeah good point that as I think any work or hobbies that are 'home based' are going to ramp up in value over the next few weeks!

I think the fact you can offer online teaching via Zoom is an amazing thing and shows just far we've come with technology!

I was just looking at this, this morning, sorting out a plan to change focus if needed. A lot of my work over the next 9 weeks is face to face and might be curtailed one way or another.

I’ve already had my hours reduced at work due to the company I work for being severely affected (events industry). I’ll be using my extra time to diversify, trying out different earning opportunities shared on the Money Shed, and hopefully getting the motivation to start my blog.

I will be diversifying as well. If the schools close though, my kids will be at home and I will have to cajole them to do some school work, such fun

Yeah that Crisp work you do is pretty involved isn't it, plus the content isn't exactly kid-friendly so having the kids at home might have a bit of an impact there ;(

I can see any one who is an Amazon affiliate doing quite well. How are you doing income wise Jon. I can see matched betting might be down without the football. I belong to a travel blogger facebook group and every one seems to have taken a big hit. Diversify, diversify

Yeah I mean there is a lot of room for people to create content around 'the 10 best hand sanitizers to use' type content and affiliate the heck out of it with Amazon links, I've not jumped onto that bandwagon just yet because I'm convinced Google is going to rank REAL virus information above regular blog posts so I'm not convinced it's worth my time.

You are SPOT ON when you say diversify! To put all your eggs into one online basket you are going to end up sleepwalking into disaster.

I have just done a guest post "how to support your elderly neighbour or friend at home" but I was a nurse before I retired so I don't feel too bad about it and the advice might be useful to someone.

I'm not decided if this will be good or bad yet. More people will be looking to do online work but maybe there will be more opportunities because of it? :/

I wonder if this is going to have an effect on resellers you know

if amazon shut down their warehouse or Royal Mail stop sorting and delivering that’s going to leave anyone doing reselling stranded!

I moved all my work yesterday to focus on my online accounts, contact about other jobs, sign up for new projects and check they were all up to date.

If need be, should be okay with online work in the short term. won't be as lucrative but feel there will be enough to help. I purposely keep some accounts with money in so I can withdraw if needed... I still have all my Lionbridge money that I can withdraw.

Gotta admit I was lost today with less AP/matched betting to do, felt like a little lost lamb.

I'll definitely be redoubling the online earning efforts with loads of annual leave from work until the end of March. Already doing the ad rating work and survey sites, hopefully will look more in to Neevo, Intellizoom etc.
