Anyone else find selling on eBay an absolute chore?

Your experience with eBay is like my experience with gumtree. "Can you drop it off?" *Checks their address* they live 10 miles away and it's a £50 item or they'll be like "can you do £30 I'll come today." And never show up but eBay also rapes you with the end of month fee and the PayPal fee.

I've tried depop is similar to vinted. I've bought a few PS4 games and controllers on there. (Not supposed to be for that I know.) And I've made some very good profit on eliquids too (it was going so smoothly) until they took em down cos they don't allow you to list vaping/smoking supplies and they have also banned electronics in there too. I've had clothes on there from the first day that I signed up and they never sold. One of em was a new hoodie from a luxury brand "alpha industries" and it was cheaper then RRP. I mainly just use it to look for man bags and shoes. (Armani and Tommy Hilfiger ect.)

There's that Shpock app as well isn't there which is similar to vinted but seems to cover more than just clothes

Shpock is more like FB marketplace/Gumtree I think - you can sell anything and collection in person.

Depop is for clothes but I didn't have a lot of success there. It is a bit like Etsy for clothes I think - you will see a lot of young designers/vintage shops sell there. Also, I don't like their app design as much but yes it is another app where you can list your clothes and cosmetics.

I stopped selling on eBay years ago when eBay ended up taking the customers side than the sellers that was the last straw for me. I use to be listing stuff in large amounts every weekend and was making a nice little earner. Does anyone even sell anymore on there now you have the likes of Facebook, Shpock and these other sites?

To be fair, it was was first figure I found when I googled. So I'm not sure of the context of it.

Hello - how is the dispatch/payment thing going for everyone since Ebay dropped Paypal?

I haven't sold anything since xmas and I keep meaning to sell some bits, then I sigh a lot, and don't bother. This is because, whereas Paypal payments hit your account instantly (so you can promise a 1 or 2 day dispatch lead) it seems to me that now it goes into your bank account, sits in an escrow and gets paid days later, so you'd obviously be a mug to dispatch before it settles. Or have I got the wrong end of the stick? (which is highly likely...). Thanks

As far as I know ebay still sets paypal as the default option. My recent sales have been though paypal as usual. I don't think anything has really changed.

I'm on Ebay Managed Payments (the new system where you don't take Paypal).

You can choose to receive the payments into your bank account daily or weekly. They do take a day or two to go into your bank, but I haven't had any issues. The only other thing is, if someone wants to return something or opens a case, the money will be reserved from your balance until it's resolved.

I think they are still converting the business accounts over - as far as I know, most personal accounts are still taking Paypal, but they will need to move over soon.

Thanks for the replies. I received a notification a few months ago, that I had to move over from PP to my bank account. Maybe I'll test it with something small and see how it goes. It's good to know it seems to be working OK though.

I've been selling a few I suppose what you would call high-value items recently (£100+) and I put them on ebay for a 7 days auction and then get endless stupid questions or people asking me to cut the price down to a ridiculous level and so I more often than not end up just listing the thing on Gumtree at the same time so make life easier

With Gumtree there are no fees, the person just comes to your house to pick it up so there isn't any delivery and the whole thing is just a LOT smoother.

With eBay, I feel I am being nickeled and dimed with everything I put on there that actually sells!!
I find eBay a drag, people want something for nothing, I’ve lost weight so I’ve got 2 laundry bags worth of clothes to go on.
i try to measure as much as I can, then you get comments I. A suze xxx will it suit me...l

It is completely a buyer's market and they take the piss with PayPal buyer protection for 180 days or something. I had 2 returns of items close to the 180 days and they were high price items. I kind of haven't bothered since. I use Facebook sell and swap local groups do don't even need to travel much and no fees. And no returns crap. Gumtree also owned by eBay hah I just never trusted to be safe enough. At least with Facebook, my particular group, it is an invite only group but has a decent 12,000 local residents and feels much safer and has a community spirit. Back to eBay, prolly if you are selling in huge quantities, don't mind a return rate of 10 to 20% , yeah then maybes, but I personally won't be returning soon. Even as a buyer, I really don't understand how people leave reviews on eBay for the item so I can judge if it is any good. It is bloody confusing. At least with Amazon I can spot a good amount of fake reviews now, buy with eBay I have zero confidence that what I am buying will actually fulfill the need I have.

Gave up selling items I had via ebay a while back. Probably only ever sold 2 items off ebay. Just too much of a long annoying process for me personally. I think I just don't have the patience.

I had to look up the former but is Vinted not a good platform for selling second hand clothes? It's forever being advertised on TV!

I've got quite a few clothes to sell but not too sure what platform to use now? I've listed them on eBay at the moment but I keep getting told by others to try depop/vinted and/or list them all at the same time... does anyone know how to go about this?
