No they haven't. It's for use only on my flare up days and my consultant told me to make sure I use it as minimal as possible (not used it once yet) and stop immediately if I get any reflux or problems.
that's interesting, when I was prescribed it my doctor explained it like this 'ibuprofen is an instant acting thing so take it as and when but with naproxen its important to take it regularly as it has a cumulative effect!' I wonder if it is worth asking a pharmacist, as they usually know more about meds than the docs do.

The Doctor who diagnosed it actually uses the meds himself, as he has arthritis.

Also, this is what the official guidelines for Naproxen say:
  • Take the lowest dose of naproxen for the shortest time to control your symptoms.
I'm really tough, with a high pain threshold (As a lot of us chronic illness people are I suppose) So I'm not anticipating needing to take it a lot :)

I always think I have a low pain threshold lol. Hmmm that will teach me for listening to the doctor!!!

Yeah I have flare up days too, just been prescribed Naproxen - anyone else here use that?

I was given it for osteoarthritis in my knee but don't really take it - I only got the one prescription I don't keep getting it and leaving it. While I can manage without it I would rather manage on my own. There could come a time when I have to take something. It annoys me that the NHS wont do a replacement until I am 60. Surely the severity should be the issue and not age?

I would ask for a second opinion.

My MIL had hers done in her early 50s because she was overweight (25+ stone I think) and she'd just had a gastric bypass. So there must be some sort of leeway?

Thanks, I will look into that. There is 4 years to go so I would rather get it out of the way.

HI all

One of the main reasons I have found myself here is that due to ill health I have mounting debt and I need to find a way out of it. I was wondering if there are any others on here who are earning money from home while dealing with health issues and if there are any top tips on how to keep organised, keep motivated etc. FYI i have fibromyalgia, pernicious anaemia, osteopenia and coeliac disease (why do I have to have a load of conditions I can't spell ha-ha). I also work full time and would like to reduce my debt so I can reduce my hours, is this a pipe dream do you think?
Sorry to hear you're unwell and I hope you are ok. I'm sure you can definitely earn some money online and it's definitely not a pipe dream! I've seen tons of advice on here, from saving money, different kinds of surveys and reviews you can do to make some extra change. Where there's a will there's a way!

I have health issues but are undiagnosed at the moment! My advice would be to take it easy - don't over do anything so that it has a negative impact on your health. For example, I found some types of mystery shopping jobs stressful so felt that whilst they were well paid, they were not suited to me so I stopped accepting them. Try out various types of jobs and see what suits you best. I've been working mainly from home over the past year as haven't been able to come out much, and have found ways of earning solely online including matched betting and testing websites. I only do surveys where they are well paying as spending too much time in front of the laptop to make pennies is not ideal for my health! All the best! :)

This is great advice.

Also, avoid comparing to others. We are all on different journeys and have different commitments, illnesses or life goals :)

I use naproxen, just keep an eye out for stomach acid problems as naproxen are in the family that can effect stomach and cause unpleasant acid.

I was given Naproxen to try prior to a fibromyalgia diagnosis. It made me feel unwell so I quickly stopped. As mentioned above, your GP will sometimes prescribe another drug to protect your stomach when you're taking it. I know that Omeprazole is given for prolonged use of Ibuprofen (an NSAID like Naproxen) but can't remember if that's why they give with Naproxen.

On the subject of working from home - definitely, I do it - where there's a will there's a way. Keep positive.

Well, I can't say that I am perfectly healthy, but at this moment I feel excellent. A few years ago I had a lot of health problems, and then I decided I must pay more attention to my health. I went to the doctor, and we discussed what should I do for having a healthier body. He recommended me to start practising sport to eat only healthy food, and also he told that I can use kratom. At that moment I was not willing to take kratom and to be honest I was afraid. Thankfully I overcame my fear and took it. That was a good idea as, since then, I always feel full of power and energized. By the way, if you would like to appeal to kratom vendors, I appeal to, whenever I want to buy it, make sure you click on the link above.

I have started to use Naproxen but I have yet to notice any benefit. Does it take a while to kick in?

Know how you feel, we all have to deal with something. Mine is more mental that I've thankfully been able to.tame over the past couple years during lockdown.
