Has anyone come across this company before? Are they worth applying to? Not sure I like the idea of having to pay for training :(

Homesourcing also known as homeshoring is "the transfer of service industry employment from offices to home-based employees with appropriate telephone and Internet facilities".[1] Homesourcing is best thought of as a combination of outsourcing and telecommuting.

Homesourcing refers to hiring employees and / or engaging independent contractors. Homesourced workers are trained through "systems / processes / methods" online and/or sometimes required to come to an office for training from time-to-time.

As it progresses the Information technology (IT) the methods for homesourcing, tend to develop new forms of Operating leverage.

Traditionally, employers were most likely to homeshore call-centers and other customer service processes. However, this trend is changing as employers realize a wider variety of work is amenable to homeshoring. Knight Ridder Newspapers reports "it's no longer just call centers and information-technology jobs. Now it's architects, accountants, tax preparers and financial analysts."[2]

According to researcher IDC Homesourcing is expanding by about 20% a year and homesourcing is "on track to explode".[3]

In September 2008 Call Catcherz Ltd Partnered with Arise.com to help bring this exciting way of working to the UK.

The Type of work being offered



Inbound Work which means that the work comes to you via a landline as we have the ability to transfer calls to you from the main call centre’s via software applications and diversion/routing software

As an example have you ever diverted your phone to your mobile or vice versa well that is a very basic software system that allows this to happen.

“WE DON’T DO COLD CALLING and NEVER WILL”



You will be taking details/information/data and processing it within the clients own software which will be displayed on your own computer in real-time (instant) and also taking general enquiries using your computer/telephone

As an examples taking a call from someone who has broken down or someone that may need help with their TV satellite box/TV package or from a member of the public who wishes to file or claim on their extended product insurance.

You will only be trained initially to service one company but it’s your choice if you want to expand to different companies/clients in the future.



An exact replica of the clients own system is delivered to your desktop via software/broadband and its Browser/Web based, so you will be working off an exact replica of what you would in a Contact Centre but from “HOME”.



The personal reasons behind the Homeshoring expansion is that many of you that have applied have done so for a reason and that could be “Fed up with the commute to work” “Have Childcare Needs” “Semi-Retired” “Further Education/Student” “looking for a 1st or 2nd income” “Actually want to do a job that helps the Environment” there are many reasons as to the “Why”. Companies are waking up to the realisation of the wealth within these areas and want to tap into it.



Software Companies we use are all leading brand for instance Citrix/Oracle/Avaya/Adobe etc and they are the best of the best for this type of work with maximum security for the clients that we serve.

UK Breakdown Company

UK Satellite TV Provider

An Extended Warranty Company doing “claims handling” linked to the large supermarkets in the UK.

An International Holiday Company (recruits infrequently)

UK National Power Company (Gas and Electric) Customer Service
One of the Largest Software Company’s in the World – you would need an Apple Mac to work this specific client as per clients own terms.

With an additional 2/3 Clients planned for Summer/Autumn of 2015.



As soon as you have officially applied we can then name the companies as we have to adhere to a non disclosure agreement we signed with the companies and this is why you have possibly not heard of this way of working before.

The companies we contract with are not ready to inform the general public about what we do due to stigma.

If you wish for me to go into further detail about this then I can but it comes down to the general public feeling unsecure of homeworkers dealing with their details, and then we have to go through why a homeshored agent is better overall etc with extreme vetting in place – hence your need of a CRB/DBS Certificate.



Servicing Schedules/Hours and Software

This will temporarily take over you own phone line when you log in and when you log out your phone lines becomes your own again within 60 secs.

You NEVER PAY for calls whilst logged in and this software monitors how much time you have spent working so we know how much to pay an agent. You will also be provided with daily stats to check your performance.



The Hours – Highly Flexible



You will be booking your own schedule of hours to service and the actual hours are posted 2 weeks in advance so you can plan ahead.



Some of the contracts do have a minimum amount of hours attached to them i.e. 10/15/20 depending on the client needs.

You will get a Schedule of hours in which you will be selecting your own hours of service and you can post them in increments of 30 mins sections of time with a timeframe of 7am -11pm (7 days a week)

(depending on client and contract you sign up to).



15 hours is usually the minimum but many agents are doing 30-45hours on a regular basis.

At the end of the day “You” choose what hours/days you wish to service.

You can set yourself a break of 30 mins to 3 hours for instance and this helps improve your work/life balance.

What equipment will you need? Cost/Outlay/Tools of the Trade.



Ø You will need a PC or Laptop – Broadband or Fibre and Telephone Line

Most have these already for social use



Ø Office Style Headset & Telephone

We can recommend a good discounted supplier whom we have known for the last 4 years), however you don’t have to take our choice as EbayAmazon do some good deals as well.



Ø VoIP/Skype Headset

Used to communicate over the PC for training purposes only, or if you have speakers and a mic on your PC then you don’t need one of these.

In addition we have found certain XBOX and PS3 gaming mics can fit the PC also, USB ones work better than the Jack Plug Type.



Ø Basic CRB/DBS Certificate

This is because you will be handling sensitive data/credit card & payment details and you will have the ability to change data with a customer’s account in the home environment, so everyone will need one.

We will accept a current CRB/DBS if it’s dated within 6 months. If you should not have one then don’t worry as there is part of the admissions which allows you to gain one.



Ø Training Course Fee

This can be between £10-£40 depending on client and length of training.





To our credit we have many many agents that have been with us for over 4+ years now and are still enjoying the work they do.



The items above are minimal to say what we are offering is “Freedom & Flexibility” to work from the comfort of your own home which we all know is “priceless indeed”

In addition all these item costs are offset against your tax return/income tax so it really is a win win – just keep your receipts.



Training



You will be eventually taking part in an E-Learning, Instructor Led Classroom

No need to go anywhere as we embrace technology and the new chalk-board is your own PC screen.

This is a branded software web based application to help train agents.

Only the Instructor will appear on Webcam – helps people like me who have a radio voice lol.

The Training usually lasts between 2-5 weeks depending on the client you wish to service and consists of 4 hours per day (Mon-Fri) and is led by a live online Instructor

The live instructor will be taking you through different slides and talking to you at the same time demonstrating how the work is to be done and how to navigate the clients own software on your pc/laptop

99.7% do pass the clients course and we are here to offer additional help when required to give you the maximum chance of certifying from the classroom to working for the client.

You will need to be Dedicated/Self Motivated and Customer Service orientated with a strong desire to problem solve.



There are usually a few course times to choose from but you have to turn up each day as though you would with School or College of course.



Typical Training Times are:-

10am-2pm

6pm-10pm



During the Training you will be thoroughly trained to do the job you have expressed interest in working for and have chosen.



The training course times are there to ideally cater for most and we are considerate of Part/Full Time Workers, Mums, Dads & Students, or just busy lives indeed. The courses are laid out in a way for it to cater for all learning abilities.

The course instructor will be someone who started out like you but has gained experience to know the client enough to teach it back out to agents.



Our Training courses will teach you the basics and more so that when you go Live taking calls you will have all the information to hand and there is even a chat support room run by a supervisory figure to assist you, so even in a remote location all the support is there to assist you with the work you do.



We give back and reward loyalty to the work we do with a possibility of advancement later on as you get used to the way the work is laid out and you could be picked for a chat supervisory role as we still have a remote supervisor to reach out to whilst at work, similar to a Team Manager in a contact centre but they are there to solely help and once again they started out just like you are now.



How and when will I get paid?

You are paid monthly and the payments are sent via direct bank transfer, usually on the 9th of each month unless it’s a weekend and then it’s the next working day.

We can pay by cheque but we prefer to pay it via the above as it’s quicker indeed for you and ourselves.



Why Self Employed ?



Given the flexibility of this work and the contracts, i.e. “YOU” choose when “YOU” want to work, the employment status is required to be that of Self Employed.

There are many financial benefits to being Self Employed, it costs nothing to register, and the simple process can be done online.



You are then responsible for your own tax affairs i.e. once a year you complete a simple form advising the Inland Revenue of your income and expenditure. We will help you with this when required.

We expect you to earn between £6.70-£9.00 or possibly more depending on ability and performance

Many agents are already earning a regular £7.50-£8.05 on average and more, there is constant call volumes coming in and plenty of work to be done.

Occasionally there maybe ad-hoc bonuses paid to you as we do reward loyalty and dedication just like any other working environment.

Pay is determined by your own metrics you produce i.e. turning up on time will increase your hourly rate as will quality of the calls and average handling time per call.



When you actually look into self employment maybe for the first time it can be daunting but we will help you and I can say after being self employed myself for 6 years it has been very worthwhile.

Especially with the right help you can even claim for things like loo rolls or petrol/mileage and offset it against your Income Tax and also you can claim for your phone line and broadband etc as these are things you will need to do the work you do.

I cannot remember the last time a company gave something away that was so lucrative but with Self Employment it really does help.

You would be liable to pay income tax and submit a tax return in due course and anything you have paid out for you would be able to claim back, this is what makes Self Employment so great.

When the time comes we will be happy to help you do this but as a rule of thumb it would be good to keep say 15p out of each £1 earned and put this to one side.

They have contacted me before about the sort of work they offer but it didn't interest me at all.

Like it says in the ad really, that they charge you for training, headsets, licenses and so on, so you can end up paying out a couple of hundred before you even get to do any work for them, and then its a bit like having a zero hours contract so you have to check in with them once every couple of weeks to get work and it can be hard to actually get any work when you are first starting out as you are competing with their more established contractors for the work

Sounds a bit mlm-y to me, if you are always having to pay out for things with no guarantee you will be able to recoup your costs

But it would be interesting if there is anyone on this site who has actually worked for them who could give us a first hand account of what it's actually like, rather than having me just regurgitating what I've read on the internet :D

No I'm not advertising for Callcatcherz I have nothing to do with them, I was wondering whether to apply to them for a job in the end I decided not to, why, are you thinking of applying yourself? I think they are still recruiting I saw another ad for them on Indeed the other day
