Well I was rejected for the maps job and I've just been booted off the transcribing thing because my accuracy wasn't high enough. (*hangs head in shame :()

Guys, got an email too saying i wasn't successful in getting the job. Is this the same kind of response everyone else got or can i hold out hope of still being selected at some stage?

It said thanks for my interest, unfortunately at this time the current language you belong to is full. This could change in the coming days or weeks. We would very much like to stay in touch and if any openings become available we will email you immediately to determine if you are still available and interested.

Thanks in advance

Well I haven't had my rejection yet from Appen though like other people I have passed the tests for the transcription work but as I seemed to get the invitation a day later than everyone else I expect the rejection will come tomorrow! Thanks for preparing me folks!

Am wondering if the new transcription thing is for the blue project and they are planning to maybe take new people on when they sack people for failing to meet accuracy targets. I don't know how long I'll last on the blue project. You only need to get a bunch of particularly difficult tasks to tank your score and get sacked. It's pretty stressful.

I just got an email last night asking me to complete the spelling test for the transcriber job, which I did this morning so guessing I’ll get an email tonight/tomorrow then to say it’s full if that’s what everyone has been getting. How annoying these companies are!!

I think a booting is coming my way too. I'm surprised it hasn't happened already. Ploughing my way through as much as I can before I do. Although I don't believe my score can be this low, I reckon the QA must be behind and this is impacting it. Although maybe I am just crap at it and I should accept it!!

I think you're, I keep refreshing the page in the hope that my last batch was more accurate and my score rockets upwards as I quite enjoy the monotony of it and you can get through some pretty quickly.

Yes this happened to me unfortunately. My score just wasn't high enough.

Can I ask what your score was at when you were booted as I keep carrying on but wondering if I'll get halfway through a batch and not be able to complete anymore.
83% They emailed me to say my score wasn't high enough on the quality check and that they needed at least 90%. It's a shame really as i was enjoying it but I had one batch where i just couldn't understand what was being said
I bet you are doing fine, they will let you know if they don't want you to continue. It was my first ever attempt at transcribing so I am not suprised I didn't do so great.

So feeling a bit confused, just received an email titled 'Invite for Appen Crowdsourcing', got excited thinking I'd got something only it followed on with this....

'Hi,

Good day!

This is Annalyn from Appen. I came across your profile in one of the social media platforms and I would like to offer you a flexible part-time online job as Crowdsourcing participant.

As a Crowdsourcing participant, projects range from audio transcription to online user experience and web site content evaluation. All work is completed remotely within the borders of Belgium and via the internet utilizing state of the art customer and/or Appen proprietary web-based platforms. Must be fluent in Dutch as well as English.'

It then continues with the schedule, requirements in more detail. I know for a fact my profile is totally up to date as I've checked it twice in the last week, I definitely live in the UK and don't know more than 2 words of Dutch so what's going on here?! Is it standard to get this sort of thing from them?

Hi, @Justdesserts :) I 'm beginning to think they don't bother checking profiles as I got an invite recently asking me to do the spelling test, which I'd already done and passed last year.

I actually did one lot of Crowdsourcing, which had a variety of website tests to perform, most of which I did not even get past the small qualification tester beforehand but that is just me, everyone is different. I did manage to complete some successfully (only just received payment as I earned less than $50 overall).
I check the website occasionally for tests but there are never any new ones available.

Only thing I can suggest is replying to the email to explain you are in the UK but don't expect to hear anything until after the weekend now.

I believe that the reality is to make sure you stay above the 85% accuracy requirements you need to go so slowly that the pay rate is well below minimum wage.

That may improve up to around minimum wage over time.

If you can manage to stay on the project long enough to pick up the speed AND accuracy required for that.

Anybody offered work from the last transcription recruitment? I didn't get any reply - does that equal rejection? Typical Appen!

I’ve heard nothing either since passing the assessments last week. I’ve came to the conclusion that they must just let people sit the tests and then sit with lists of people they can call on if they remove people from projects.

Well the blue project has finished after less than two weeks so I doubt they'll be taking on new transcribers now.

I got an email saying that the last remaining batches had been allocated and then it was done. I'm in the Northern group so if you're in a different group they might not have been as quick.
