I'm thinking of signing up for ABH. My time is very variable, although should have a bit more time for the next 3 months. If I only have a few months (worst case scenario), is this advisable?

I was also confused by their site. When you go on you seem to have to choose between "Raters" and "Microtasks" and not really sure what the difference between the two is?

Thanks for any advice!

Raters work is generally paid 'by the hour' and above the UK minimum wage.

Microtasks is generally 'ad hoc' work with variable pay

With either you login and work whenever you want to

I've just been accepted on a task, starting Monday, should be able to earn around £400 per month as a Rater. Its definitely worth a look, it took about 2/3 weeks to get asked onto the task but I think that's pretty quick & depends on the task .

My £600 per month with them recently went down to £200 per month which is rather gutting! Hoping another rating job might come up

I had 2 rating projects on the go and was dropped from one of them. Sadly the higher paying one.

Thankfully other online income streams started to pick up at the time that I was dropped but it is always nice to have the safety net of a guaranteed extra £600pm

Appen has gone really quiet. I lost my £200 per month project in September and nothing since.

A lot of the projects are short term, especially the social media one hour a day ones which usually only run for 9 months. Keep checking the websites and keep your details up to date, you never know when out of the blue you'll get an email inviting you to a project.

I can’t even log in to update my details as when my project ended it deactivated my account although when I’ve emailed me they say there’s nothing for me to do other than wait for them to contact me!

It might be worth starting again with them in that case have you tried re registering https://appen.com/careers/

You could also take a look at Isoftstone and Lionbridge although don't think there's anything going in the UK at the moment for them but worth a check now and again. I don't think Lionbridge like to hire you if you've worked with the other companies but maybe do a search online to see what others say before you apply for anything. I haven't worked for them for years but do the same job for Appen now (which was Leapforce before they bought them out). Good luck.

Ok so I signed up as a micro worker and had a survey through and paid. Is there any way to also sign up as a rater or have you got to choose one or the other and I've missed the boat?

@kaiserpups yes you can still apply as a rater, just click on the rater box on the website & it will take you through to the correct page. i applied at the beginning of the month & have just started a rating task today.

Thank you @clairecc i have emailed them today, so will see!! Failing that I will try and apply again. I’m registered with isoftstone and do get some tasks occasionally, but Lionbridge is a tough nut to crack and I keep getting rejected, the latest time because they didn’t send me the guidelines prior to the exam and then just booted me out!!! Boo!!

Hi,
Does anybody know if there are any rules in relation to timescales between applications?
I applied for a Social Media Evaluator back in June but was unsuccessful :( Was so disappointed at
the time but would like to try again if possible.
Also can you apply for the Rater and Micro tasks as well as the Social Media Evaluators etc? I must admit the
site really does confuse me at times.
Thanks in advance :)
