On the contrary Februarycat, that's extremely helpful to know. Thank-you.
Thank-you - I knew asking the question here would be a good idea. I suspected that 3 hours was a bit ambitious. What with that and Appen's refusal to answer my email and not being able to access their site properly, I shall probably give this a miss. I can earn $50 dollars for less hassle on Utest (and they engage with their testers). Thanks for the tip.If anyone is thinking of doing the recording task be aware that it is not just recording a phrase it is also transcribing it. I started it and it took about an hour to do 100 phrases. Even if you get faster as you go i can't imagine many people managing to do it in less than 6 hours. With the current exchange rate plus the payoneer withdrawal fee i can't see anyone making more than minimum wage for this. Appen are under paying for this task and that is why they are struggling to get people to do it.
Thank you steph88 - this confirms my decision (to not bother!)Just seen this, I've given up on the transcribing task. It's taken me 1 hour to do 100. I've seen some people say it's taken them 10+ hours (one as many as 15 hours) to complete it. It doesn't seem worth it to me.
Hi i completed this task you on about took me 14 hours in total which is total joke. I finished it almost 3 weeks ago and still not been paid as they said within 10 daysThank-you Jon - but when you've uploaded it (and I'm assuming that's what you do at the end), what happens then? I ask because, if the project gets completed but I cannot now get any sense out their website, then I cannot monitor any progress re payment, or (as is happening at the moment) get anyone to talk to me. Have you found them hard to contact?
Crikey - I'm definitely filing this under G for 'get stuffed' - thank you.Hi i completed this task you on about took me 14 hours in total which is total joke. I finished it almost 3 weeks ago and still not been paid as they said within 10 days

The more I hear about this task, the happier I am that I made a very quick decision to knock it on the head.
For the sake of fairness, has anyone managed to complete it within the stated three hours?
Your experience mirrors mine re the webpage and listed projects and when I click the link on their emails to me, I get error messages even though the person I am dealing with claims they've sorted the bug. I didn't use the abandon option because I just deleted the app before I started. I also told the person I'm dealing with that I'm not doing it (and why). I haven't heard back and although I know it's a risk that I won't be invited to anything else, I wasn't holding my breath anyway. I've been registered for nearly a year and had to apply three time so far for (I think) Yukon - I can't see the projects page anymore so I'm guessing. I think I'll give up on Leapforce and look at the threads re applying for Lionbridge. Thanks for replying - I'm glad I asked.Boy, I'm glad I had the sense to visit this page again! I too signed up for the voice recording task. I had already applied for a few projects but this was the first one that I was offered - so I jumped at it.
I did the first hour and realised that there was no was I am going to be able to complete the task in 3 hours ... I am almost at 200 phrases and have already spent 2 hours on it! It is the transcription that takes the time and I found I wasn't very fast on my phone (fat thumbs!) so have been using my Chromebook with the app installed so that I can use a real keyboard. Even with that I reckon the task is going to take me nearer 10 hours than 3!
If I log back into the Appen site - I can no longer see the projects listed - just a bit of text on the page.
I read that some others have given up on the task - have you used the "Abandon" option in the app to do so, or just not completed it?
As it's my first project that I have qualified for, I am reluctant to just give up for fear of never being asked again - however I feel that same as the others here that if they were honest about how long it was going to take, and then paid accordingly then people would be able to make a more informed choice!
I think people (myself included) gravitate towards them because of the Web Search Evaluator work. Time was when you could get that from 3 companies but now it's just them and Lionbridge so people tend to keep them on side...Hilarious,
Just re-checked my Appen timesheets. They have billed me for 1 unit at $12. So for 4.5 hours work recording 892 phrases they are paying me $12. Bunch of f###ing crooks.
Emailed them for clarification - expect some BS answer as always.
Seriously, I have no idea why anyone wants to work for this company. I did the task because I had a free day in my schedule. I should have learnt from previous experiences with them. Just horrific - worst company I have ever dealt with and I've worked for around 100 companies in my life (including time spent temping whilst a student and travelling).
Anyone else been invited to do their Facebook project. Project : Noyo ??
pff, not worth it thenYes it’s £5 a time. Think you get a new invite every three months or so.
