Copy and paste from thread on Netmums:

We are looking for people to work from home undertaking customer service roles for big companies such as BT and Sky to name a few.

Our company Business Process Outsourcing | BPO | Arise Virtual Solutions are actively looking to recruit now for Sky and BT.

Take a look at our website and let me know what you think. Might be a good idea to log into one of our information sessions. We have one today at 11.30 and one tomorrow (Friday) at 14.00. But don't worry if you can't make these, as we have regular sessions on a weekly basis.

Give me a call and we can discuss how these opportunities could work for your job seekers.

Regards

I came across these somewhere the other day

http://blog.arise.com/uk/

The site looked too crowded and put me off looking further. I have just clicked on "become an agent" hoping for more information but it has taken me straight to create a profile with no real information about the job.

www.arise.com for their main website.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has had experience with them.

Creating a profile you are asked these things

I understand that Arise offers a business opportunity and not direct employment. Arise partners only with limited companies and not with individuals. Therefore, I may be required to form a business, use an existing corporation, or work for an existing business already in the Arise network.
I understand that I will be required to provide all services from a physical location within the United Kingdom, unless otherwise agreed to by Arise in writing. Arise is not accepting services from any other locations at this time.
I understand that Arise Virtual Solutions Inc. requires that I, and any other Client Support Professionals working for me on Arise accounts, pass a number of skill based assessments.
I understand that Arise Virtual Solutions Inc. requires that I, and any other client support professionals working for me on Arise accounts, pass a criminal background check.

Am I wrong in feeling a little off with that line?

I have stumbled on Arise lots in my online work searching and just like Chammy something has just hasn't sat right with me. I may be wrong and also would love to hear some feed back from some one who has taken the plunge.

I worked for them a few years ago - was hell.

Training took weeks (unpaid), had to pay for CRB check, had to have a machine only for work as anything else interfered, they took over my pc once and deleted so much stuff that I got a hellish virus which took ages to remove properly, forming own company or under the umbrella of someone else's was ridiculous. You could never get enough hours, and when you did work you only got paid for minutes on the phone. There was no support whatsoever so you were alone floundering not knowing what you should say or do, and the system would crash constantly - so you could work for 5 hours and be paid for less than 1. Was soul destroying.

Why on earth would they want you to have a CRB for sitting at home talking to people about Sky TV? That's crazy!

I dunno - is nuts. It was catalogues when I worked for them - taking orders and trying to sell extra add ons - soul destroying really.

Sorry to necrobump an old thread but Arise still appear to be rocking and rolling and offering 'call centre from home' jobs for some pretty big UK names like Sky and NPower etc.

I applied to them and sat through the info session, then never heard anything from them! The presentation they went through does tell you that you pay about £100 upfront costs for equipment and then you pay a monthly subscription fee as well - I can't remember how much but think it worked out you work about 14 hours to pay the fee!

Try Sensee if you're after call centre type work. They offer fixed contracts, although u may not get the exact hours u want, at least you're paid full the full hours u work

They are an absolute nightmare to work for.

Awful for shift scheduling, late payments, missing payments and the attitude of the head office staff when you have an issue, caused by them, is nothing short of abusive.

Was looking at it. Seems you need a fixed broadband connection and maybe a fixed telephone line.
