Avatar query

Hi,

Never had an avatar before but would like to add one. Where do people tend to get them from? I have 'googled' and there are free avatar sites available but I would not have a clue which ones are good/safe to use?

I presume I could not just upload a picture found online instead, i.e. a cartoon character, as it would be subject to copyright laws - which is why I am asking on here, first.

I don't think there's any harm is using a normal pic of a cartoon character etc as your avatar.

It's not like you are using a company logo or actually pretending to be Mickey Mouse

How about using a site that offers copyright free images like Pixabay? They are free to download and there's loads of choice.
