Are there any Avon Sales Leaders out there, or anyone who is thinking of becoming one, who could make use of lots of Avon recruiting stuff - old brochures, prospecting cards, sign up packs and so on? I also have things like paper bags, order forms, samples and lots of other bits and pieces. I have recently started my own business www.sparkleandshine.tictail.com and I am looking to 'clear the decks'! I'm happy to let you have it for free but you will have to come and collect it and you will have to bring a car with an empty boot! And you will have to come on a Friday afternoon/evening to Manchester. Seriously, I probably have a couple of car loads' full of stuff so if a few of you are interested I could split it between you. Please message or email me if you're interested! Thanks

I wish i lived nearer! Just out of curiosity why are you no longer a leader is just because you've set up your own business? I am thinking of applying to be a leader x

Hi Amy are you already with Avon? How are you getting on? I was an Avon sales leader for four years and at one point I had 60 on my team. I loved it and worked hard at it but eventually decided last year that the time had come to move on because I didn't feel my earnings were enough to justify all the work I was putting into it. Its not easy to earn money as a sales leader first of all you have to find new team members, sign them up, then they have to place an order, then they have to pay for their order...if any of these things don't happen for one reason or another you don't get paid. Also you always have to have at least five placing an order in each campaign to get paid, if, say, only four place then you get paid nothing. Then - and I always thought this was unfair - if your team member doesn't pay their bill and goes into debt with Avon they take back all the commission you've ever been paid for that team member. Team members come and go you will find some amazing ones but the vast majority only do a couple of campaigns and then give up or fall into debt with Avon. Plus in recent years Avon has been heavily targeted by scammers, people who sign up with no intention of ever paying their bill. Most just do it for free stuff to flog on the black market but some are linked to organised criminal gangs and pull off elaborate scams involving creating teams where none of the team members actually exist. Its all a bit mad really :D but saying that some people do make very good careers out of it and make very good money. Just ask if there's anything else I can help with, Avon wise :) if you decide to give it a try good luck with it!

hiya, yeah i'm already a rep with them. I'm on my 9th campaign at the moment. I have got 25 regular customers, I haven't been canvassing the past 3 campaigns due to rubbish weather so i've not gained any new customers but I am going to start doing all my territory again. I have an 18 month old son and with no childcare so I think realistically at the moment being a leader isn't an option but he will be starting nursery twice a week from september so was hoping then I would be able to commit a bit more time to it. One thing that does put me off is actually recruiting the people in the first place, the for sale sites on facebook are spammed to hell with avon leaders recruiting, i'm not sure how i could compete with them?

I did virtually no advertising on Facebook for that very reason! I used to go out with the area managers and we used to do things like door knocking, market stalls, recruitment events in job centres, that sort of thing, also something called drive bys where you drive around in a car winding down the window and asking people and just walking up and down high streets asking people. I used to treat it like a job, drop my daughter off at school, spend a day working with an area manager, then pick her up from school. On my own I did a lot of leafleting and brochure drops to find new customers/team members. You can also buy leads from various lead companies.

You have to be confident talking to strangers in the street lol but once you've mastered that it can be fun and hopefully you will find some good team members and earn some money. A group of us used to all go out together and we'd have a right laugh :)

Good luck with it if you decide to do it, it suited me really well when my daughter was at primary school. I would love to still be doing it it was just the money side which wasn't working out for me but it does for some people it just depends who you find to sign up I suppose. Let me know if there's anything else Avon related I can help with :)

I can talk to anyone so that isn't a problem lol. I am hoping I eventually earn a decent part time wage on it as I won't have child care in the holidays so need to be at home so was thinking this would be ideal!
