Beginner silly question...

I decided to take the plunge and start a blog and see how it goes. I followed TMS instructions and registered a domain name and got hosting from Kloudhost. I then set up word press and started a very simple page. When I click publish though, it shows up on WP but not when you got to the actual web page. I presume I have failed to link something along the way so they can't see each other, but can't for the life of me figure out what I need to do and where! Help!

(I am reasonably good at tech but never set up a website before...)

What's the website?

I would drop them a support ticket, they will reply in minutes and fix the issue for you

Thanks - they are fixing it now! I knew it would be something really stupid... apparently the wordpress site is my site name /wp so the main site is empty, but the /wp would work. Doh...

Yep.. feeling a bit silly... but now got to load up content and get stuff on it. Takes ages doesn't it! It's anyones guess as to whether anyone will actually read it!

Definitely that. Set up social media accounts for the blog and use as many relevant hashtags as you can. I only have twitter and instagram for mine but 90% of my audience comes from there. And then engage with your followers. Like them back, reply to comments etc. I think people much prefer it when they see a blogger who is engaged with their readers.

I see so many bloggers who just autopost on Twitter etc and never engage with their potential community!

Thanks... I have set up a basic site with one post so far... off now to add a social media account and see if I can get some interest!

Unfortunately extremely slowly... I went backwards a bit to fix the things that I found annoying before I went back to content. I spent half a day making a logo and now am trying to find a good theme, but currently don't like any of the ones I've tried! Then I can go back to building my content...

Yeah I can take a good while to settle on a theme that both does what you want and also looks like you want!!

You haven’t installed it in the /we/ directory by accident have you?

Wordpress by default seems to install in

www.yourdomain.com/wp/

Also don’t forget if you need help raise a support ticket with Kloudhost. In my experience they reply / fix in minutes
