It's funny how many notifications they keep sending of this task, but others I don't even get a notification, I only see them when I open the app!
yeah.. I don't pay as much attention to BME nowadays but that was always the way to push the bargepole tasks as they know seasoned users wouldn't touch them so they push it like hell in the hope some less savvy will do it

Giving up on this app. Every single task in my area gets taken as soon as it goes up. Impossible for me to do any.

I'm new to this app and have done about 5 missions so far - I have a lot come up where I need to 'announce myself to the staff' and show them a letter of authorisation then ask their permission to carry it out... I am not at all confident to do this, however was wondering if anyone else has and what the generally reaction you get is?

99% of the time it will be fine. You show them the letter, they let you get on. 1% of the time I would say they say no chance, go away!

it depends how much the money is worth to you and if that 1% is enough to bother you that you won't attempt the work

Generally it is ok. Big stores are used to these sort of things happening all the time and won't bat an eyelid. You will be surprised how trusting they are, most will just give you a visitor's badge and leave to to wander around their shop floor and warehouse and get on with it. Smaller independents might be less amiable to you taking photos in their shop - they often seem to have a complex that you are somehow spying on them.

My advice would be to stick with the big stores until you get your confidence up.

Yeah good point, if you are going to have ANY hassle then it will generally be in the smaller independent stores. I always found in the larger stores I was a total nobody to them considering how many members of the public were in there!

Cannot agree enough!!! steer WELL clear of small shops..NOT worth the hassle, When i did tasks in Tesco, i would just go to the security desk, sign in, say i am from anyone really... Smiths Crisps, Heinz, Volvic whatever, they dont care, get a badge and go do what your there to do, no one will bat an eyelid... Beware slightly on BME but almost always on Roamler... the Letter of Authority is a chocolate fireguard...you will get refused to do the task at smaller shops

So today for all you crazy bladers is Blades day... also, new to BME is "Brushes" which is very similar to blades in that they go live at 4pm, and you are checking on dozens of products (toothbrushes) in the same kinds of shops (Tesco,Asda,Morrisons,Wilko etc...) pay is £5, ... i did a couple of the Total Recall tasks yesterday, £7 reward to buy every unit of stock of a milkshake drink in store... i now have over 50 bottles of milkshake to keerp me going, anyway, as i finished that one of these "Brushes" ones came on in same Tesco, so i went to give it a go...after about a dozen with still 4 times that to go i figured this was going to take 20-30 mins for a fiver and abandoned it

Brushes take 10 minutes to do tops - not bad for a fiver

Thats WAAAAYUYY too long for a fiver.. i was over 10 mins when i threw in the towel,by comparison, the job i did in same shop first took just over 2 mins from entering to leaving and paid £7!.. When you put into context that you get a fiver for a billboard, compare that to the brushes and you see that the pay rate is ridiculously poor, same with Blades £6 for a job that takes the time of 4 normal £5 jobs, so, really they should be £12-15 minimum?

You need to stop giving people unrealistic expectations & stimulating greed- if you have taken over 10 minutes to do this job there is a problem - brushes and blades are really really easy jobs that take just minutes to complete if you know what you are doing - especially once you have done one - everything to photograph is in one place - loads of jobs around - so five pounds way above even min wage
Of course, there are jobs where you can do a quick in and out for five pounds - see them as a bonus not as the benchmark.

I've been doing the blades task for years now and find that quite easy to do. This new brushes task however is very time-consuming in comparison with having to photograph every single product, whether in stock or not as well as having to take a photo of the till area where shoppers and members of staff are always present, drawing attention much? I had fully charged my phone before attempting 2 tasks and by the end had gone down to 53%. All for the same or less pay than blades. It's not always about the time it takes but what they expect you to do. At least it's better than the product check one at Boots where you had to look for several products in several categories and photograph each bay, all for £4. That I absolutely could not carry on with and had to abandon.

Aye Jon i remember that too, they really started taking the proverbial when they added the womens into it, i did those for a few months before realising i was spending so much time for nothing extra and doing blades when i could be earning same paying jobs but in a fraction of the time... The blades up here is now barely touched, (a quick look on app just now...still 17 of the local ones ungrabbed..there was about 20 when i last done blades...they have managed to put folks off doing them, these brushes are probably worse.... my own fault for breaking the cardinal sin and just doing without reading it first, as Catbus says, taking pics around the till area... emm no... I noticed on yesterdays round that one or two were nabbed near me, but i noticed they were back on a couple hours later, so, guess others are abandoning them too.

Can't see how to do narrow down the radius for jobs on the BME app? Currently getting jobs MILES away

Now have a Son in Law, and have become the 'dreaded' Mother in Law. Many congratulations to Hazel and Matt who got married on 10th August, at the Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth, North Wales. It was a fab weekend away and the most unconventional but personal wedding ever!
