Just wondering if Pingbacks are any use. Should I be accepting them even when it is my own post that causes a Pingback?
Looking on the web some people seem to think them no use.
Just wondering what other bloggers here do whether you use them or not?

Personally I've only had a couple so far, I leave them, I don't mind :) If someone wants to mention me on their blog at least they are crediting me I guess :)

I bin my own. Whether I'd keep someone else's depends on the site it's come from.

Pingbacks are usually nofollow *I think*, so there's no SEO/Google benefit from allowing them. From a more personable point of view, if someone links to you, then publishing the ping back is a sort of acknowledgement and thank you. Might make you a blogger buddy and they be inclined to link to you again in future as a result.

I'd only publish 'good' ones though. If the blog is something to do with my niche and I'd be interested in reading it myself then all is good, if it's non-related or looks dodgy/spammy, then I wouldn't.

Thanks for that. :)
