I have 3 blogs going at the moment, so I need some sort of planning to keep on top of them.
Some of the posts are more campaign-led, contributing towards particular goals. These are released according to a drip-feed editorial calendar.
Some are seasonably-based. I'll often update old blog posts and republish them with a recent date (but the same URL) for this. Others react to things which have happened recently, which I get up ASAP.
I sometimes hire writers for blogs. I tend to publish these as soon as I've had change to review and edit the work (more for style and SEO than grammar or facts).
Likewise, I'll tend to publish ad hoc posts as soon as they're written. My audiences aren't particularly loyal - they don't revisit on a regular basis looking for new content, so there's not much value in holding posts back. May as well let Google get its teeth into them.
