I have to say it is fab. I became obsessed with checking our online banking dozens of times a day and staring at a spreadsheet. Now the main software on the laptop, app on both phones and me and husband can update and manage on the go. It did cost but was a one off fee. Think I have $6 off discount code somewhere.

I do it the old fashioned way, by writing down my monthly earnings and my monthly outgoings. I always know in my head how much money I need to have in my bank account by the end of each month. My direct debits go out on the first day of the month, so I need to have enough money banked to cover those. Then I can work out my monthly budget for food and other expenses over the coming month.

My weeklin income varies a lot but I know the minimum amount I need to earn each month. I usually manage to scrape by. but when my income drops I know I have to be more productive. When my earnings increase I am also motivated to be more productive so I can have a record-breaking month.

You get a 34 day trial to see how you get on with loads of little "training" sessions available. It is around a 4 rule budgeting plan so the sessions ort of help you understand the mindset changes. I have been avidly using it for 4 months and we are getting there. It took time for both husband and I to get on the same page. I can also give you a code for a discount if you wanted to purchase. In the training sessions they also give away 1 free licence at the end so worth it for that too!

Don't get me wrong this program is not for everyone. I have spoken to someone who just did not get on with it. Let me know if you want any other info or a chat about it.

And for the record I am not affiliated with the company in any way. xx

YNAB sounds really interesting - do you think it would work for someone on a variable income? Mine is different literally every month and it makes budgeting SO HARD
