What a chore of a task it is lol

From writing endless guest posts for other blogs within your niche through to commenting on other blogs a few days a week. I can feel like it's never ending and while it is the far, FAR cheaper option than paying SEO experts (and this is coming from the guy who spent £200 for a SEO REPORT which was basically a Fiverr PDF being emailed to me!) it isn't half a heck of a slog

I'm going through another round of guest posts at the moment and am doing about 20 of them. So that's 20 x 800 word articles (16,000 words). Each article has to be slightly different in how it drives the narrative and fit in with a different demographic on each site but continues to include the import anchor terms I want to rank for.

I know if I want 'flash in the pan' type traffic I could just spend £100 on Facebook ads or whatever but that doesn't come with the 'user intent' that I get when people reach my sites via Google!

I've even read quite a few posts on SEO forums like WarriorForum and Digitalpoint from people asking if building backlinks is dead but I just don't get how else Google would ever rank content.

If it has 2 sites about elephants and 1 has 200 links to it which are total trash websites and the other has 50 links to it from relevant websites to do with animals and safaris it will always rank the 2nd website higher than the first...

I don't get what other metric they could use rank which is why I sadly can't see an end to the need to have to build backlinks to your site!

If you ever want to write a guest article for granny bloggers I would be happy to host it. However I imagine you need sites with a high D. A. Are there any sites that are easy to get back links from without writing the 800 word article and how does google decide what your niche is?

Well Google Doesn't decice, I suppose you decide.

So if your blog was about gardening then the more high ranking gardening sites that link to you the better. I would imagine it goes off things like existing keywords that you are using in your content.

So if you wrote a blog post about 'green plants' if you had a backlink to that article from a higher ranking blog which also covered 'green plants' it would see that as good link juice compared to say a link of a mummy blog or something

I belong to a couple of granny blogging face book groups but most of the blogs on there are pretty low D.A. I have written a couple of reviews for Silver travel advisor which allows back links but I wondered if there were any easy ways to get back links that don't look spammy.

Well I'm pretty much done with my latest batch of guest posts so will see how that pans out for me.

I'm also currently paying for SEO Software to help with long tail keywords and all that good stuff. Once you get into it it's pretty fascinating

So like if you wanted to write about 'golf clubs' that's a very broad term and the top ranking sites would probably be golf related or amazon so instead you would use a keyword research tool and set some filters like

Minimum Words 3
Volume (The number of searches for this term per month) 500
CPC (Cost per click, so how much Google Ads would charge. Minimum £1

You then end up with a lot of great ranking keywords you can write about and that are showing as low (green) score for difficulty! These will give you high traffic, they show INTENT to buy due to the CPC and you can see that you will rank well for them as there isn't much competition!

Really interesting stuff if your site(s) (like mine are) are reliant on organic Google Traffic compared to say just getting your traffic from social media
