Has anyone else ever though of or tried doing this?

There are a few sites I know, for example wowcher, that have several deals where you can get up to 95% off certain items. I've long been thinking about buying some of these items, and then reselling them on eBay or similar websites.

Has anyone had any experience of this? Does it work out well?

Trusted Sites:

Wowcher
Focal Price
Deal Extreme

I did this a lot a few years back however I purchase from abroad, China in fact using a website called "Focal Price" everything is free shipping, quite how they manage to send you a $1 order and you pay no shipping is beyond me but they do.

Anyway I used to purchase things like mp3 players that looked like ipods, earphones that looked like the same you get with your new iphone etc , and resell them on eBay.

As long as you describe them correctly its ok, for example the ear phones i would tittle as "Replacement Earphones" notice I didn't add a brand to the title, then in the description its fine to list what they fit ie ipod, iphone etc etc.

The same with the mp3 players as long as you call them mp3's and not ipods its fine.

And I made a fair bit of online money doing that.

The site was fine, everything arrived although some of it took 4 weeks to get to me.

One little bit of advice though is buy small, after all if your buying to sell you are meant to be paying import duty, try and keep your orders bellow $100

Cheers

I have done this myself a few times. When things are like 95% off when they are originally £200, selling them for even half that makes a nice little profit

Indeed Iamauser its well worth dabbling in as they say.

Where did you source your goods from ?
Perhaps we could between us compile a nice little list of companies abroad that we have used with no issues, and trust.

After all I read horror stories on some sites about people sending their hard earned money and receiving nothing !

I can tell you that both Focal Price and deal extreme have both delivered to me with no problems.

Cheers

Great idea.

I got most of my from Wowcher. Its a very good site, with a big variety of items, and there are new deals almost daily

This is a very neat idea, but it does required having some start up money too. I would be worried about not being and to the resell the item too.

Hopefully I will hear some success stories though which will change my mind

It takes surprising less than your would think.

And as long as you do your research you will have no issues selling the items.

For example look on eBay find something like an mp3 player, if you click on "completed listing" you will see what sold and what didn't this will give you and idea of what to buy and what not to.

And in my experience you could spend around £30 and make £90 from eBay on those items, I did just that with ipod replacement earphones

Thanks

Yeah it really isn't that hard. Barely any risk. I have never made a loss on anything I have bought and sold before. Just make sure you get something that is heavily discounted
