Can a Blogger Relax on Holiday?

So, I am off to France on Thursday for 16 days and the question is can I just relax on holiday (as much as one can relax with 3 kids under 6!) or should I be sneaking a couple of blog posts out while I'm away?

I have a couple of posts queued up to publish while i'm away, but not much and there is this slight anxiety that Google will slap my wrists for being less active (I'm sure that this is utter nonsense, but the anxiety remains nonetheless).

I will have to check my emails every other day to moderate comments etc, but should I just keep the laptop lid shut for the rest of the time and find a good book to read instead?

If the latter, has anyone got any suggestions for a good book? I haven't read any fiction in at least 4 years!

Haha - yep, and too much coffee doesn't help!

Just checked my US Amazon account and 27 sales in 4 days makes me feel a little more relaxed, as does the record 454 visitors to KSF yesterday :) - If the visitors drop to 12 per day by the end of my holiday, I will know that you sent an email to Google to say that I was slacking.

No book recommendation? and I don't want some obscure Rugby League or Horse Racing Autobiography ::)

I don't read books so sadly no recommendations

16 days, if I had to come back to loads of account approvals on here people RUNNING A MUCK because they know I am not around and can't do anything about it...bad times

I think that if you are queuing up posts you have done all that you can do really

just enjoy the time away

Oh how I'd love to get away for a couple of weeks, I think a complete lack of online-ness would have me going crazy though never mind just a break from blogs.

Books: A song of Ice and Fire? Nice long reads ;)

Well, I don't know if you can relax. But you should.

Books:
Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn
The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of a Window and Disappeared, Jonas Jonasson
Nothing To Envy: Real Lives In North Korea, Barbara Demick
Life Of Pi, Yann Martel
Room, Emma Donohue
Lolita, Vladimir Nabokov
The World According To Garp, John Irving

I'm a chick tho. No guns here ;D

I'm not into silly macho war books anyway.
I had read Life of Pi - seem to recall it was good but can't remember what it was about - had 3 kids since then.
I'd better get hunting around Amazon kindle section!

If you had to choose one, which would it be?
Room looks interesting

I really like France, apart from when they shut the shop 5 minutes before I arrive!

We are going to the Limousin region - very central and remote, but with a couple of lakes with beaches for the kids to play on.
We went via Disneyland last year and the travelling was a nightmare. I will never use CDG again - I didn't realise that you couldn't take the trolleys on the metro thingy and took 30 minutes just trying to work out how to get 3 kids and a huge pile of luggage (including car seats) from one corner or CDG to the other. Ended up missing the flight

This time we're flying from Leeds Bradford to Limoges - much more relaxed I hope. Just hope I haven't missed one of those sneaky Ryanair charges - like £100 to sit next to your own kids or something?

Your action holidays sound far too energetic from where I'm sitting.

They were just a random selection that popped into my head. I'm a total bookworm.

Room was very good. Very memorable characters. I read it when it was first released and still remember it well. I'd probably choose that if I had to choose one.

Life of Pi was about a boy whose parents owned a zoo, travelling by boat which sunk, and he ended up on a journey in a canoe with a tiger, hyena, zebra and possibly one or two others. Very far-fetched, but that's books, and I liked it.

I fly from Leeds Bradford a lot. It's miles from us though, much further than Leeds is.

Thus reversing the trend in every other part of the UK - no sausage roll breakfast for me then.

OK. Room it is then - £1.79 seems like a bargain too!
