I'd be interested to hear whether you feel StopStart makes much difference to your petrol bills/mileage per tank.why did no one tell me that the car start/stop doesn't work if you have the car fans / heating on..
Thought the car was broke yesterday, turns out I was just being an idiot and didn't know that x,y,z need to be in place for eco mode to work!

But in the real-world? I'm not sure how much difference it will make.LOGICALLY.. it has to yeah? Cos i mean you are stuck in a jam or at the lights and NOT burning petrol / diesel
it's gotta make SOME difference. Maybe £100 a year or something, depends on how much you sit in traffic jams I guess! But in the real-world? I'm not sure how much difference it will make.
it doesn't really Start it. It puts the engine into some kind of 'hibernate' mode and it just activates itself againdoesn't it burn more fuel to start an engine though?
What do we think of this
'Car payments are ruining our lives'
One mum tells us how her daughter's car finance payments have led to stress and sleepless nights.www.bbc.co.uk
I think the accountability has to be on the girl. She was 23 and agreed to lease an AUDI with £329 payments!
I take quite a callous approach to articles like this, because it is very much “I’m the victim because I financed the shit out of something I quite clearly couldn’t afford.”
Did the girl now know what an Audi is though?I think that when it comes to offering loans (which is what this is) the car dealer has a responsibility, just like the bank if you asked them for a loan.
The dealer did what a dodgy dealer does, 'upsells' everything he could because that makes him the most money.
Some people don't understand money. They can't budget and more importantly, they dont care to budget.
So this is play of two acts: Dodgy Dealers and Financially Immature Buyers.

The government is very resistant to introducing financial education into the school curriculum. If i were a cynical type (and i am), i might think that it was a part of a capitalist plan.
1. Dont educate people about money, and help them understand what finance and its implications mean.
2. Make credit super easy to get.
3. produce more and more shiny things, and get the Kardasians to tell people they need it.
But thats just me being cynical.

Like @David H says she didn't NEED an Audi! Most people don't drive those at that age I would guess, especially not from the second-hand market!
I think she went in with tunnel vision to get an Audi and that was that. If she had been told it was £400 a month payment she would have done it!
bbc article said:As a first year university student with a part-time job she'd originally gone out looking for a much smaller - and less expensive - car to help her get to and from lectures. But she was persuaded to buy the Audi, which will end up costing her more than £20,000.
