Hi :)

I have a few of the Beginner accounts open for MBing at the moment, with just a couple of horse bets done on the Leger.

I am thinking of trying Cheltenham if possible (IF I can get my head around it and do a monthly subscription to PA or OM with the tools required).

Would I be best to open some accounts with new bookies - preferably ones that it would not matter so much if I got gubbed by them? I am wary of using my 'regular, major bookies' as I don't want to risk losing them for something I may not get into or continue afterwards and understand that some of them don't like you doing horse bets - even if they have offers on them.

I was thinking that they may be offering horsey bets to newcomers in March, so less chance of a gubbing, perhaps?

Thanks

hard to say

some bookies will have some cracking signup offers during Cheltenham and it may be worth holding off on pulling the trigger on signing up to them before then

PA etc will have every offer going covered and how to get the most from it so if you do want to make a bundle of cash during the week then you really will need access to a matched betting service.

Thought it might be a good idea to have a separate thread for next weeks' Cheltenham Festival, as things may quickly get lost on the bigger matched betting thread :)

All things Cheltenham welcome here ..........................

Just had an email from Smarkets to say that commission will be 0% for the FIRST RACE every day at the Cheltenham Festival.

That 0% offer from smarkets is excellent, just got to remember it as I think quite a lot of the offers next week will involve betting on the first race of the day ;)

Means we can make more money either way!

With the offers from skybet for money back if lose on first race and betway money back if lose on first and last race each day, surely we wouldn't need to lay initial bet, am I right?

If you bet on two different horses and they both lose you get a free bet back for both (£20 in Sky's case), but you typically get 80% of the value of a free bet back, so in the sky case you are £4 down. If one wins then you are quids in, but the first race can be a bit tight with a lot of closely priced runners.

Looks like the standard High 5 from William Hill will be running on all Cheltenham races, but on the first race every day they will refund all horses if it is won by 5 lengths or more. This is highly unlikely, but may be worth a punt if a small QL is possible

Seen a few bookies (e.g. PPower, WHill) mention 'NRNB' - Non Runner No Bet where you get your stake back if your horse turns out to be a non-runner

How does this work if you have laid it? Does Betfair and Smarkets do the same and cancel the bet?

Thanks :)

Hi, folks, I got this from William H, but don't know what this means...
Free bets can only be used on Cheltenham Festival races on the ‘Racecard’ market (only on bets of 1/5 or greater). Free bets cannot be used on other race markets (‘Place Markets’, ‘Betting Without’ etc)
What is the Racecard market?

Thanks!
