Most of them are simple backing and laying, then hoping for a refund/free bet to trigger.
Give me an example and I'll explain how to tackle it.
Im interested in two types - the betfair one that offers £50 free bet with every winner at 3/1 or the paddy power type offer - money back as free bet your horse finishes 2nd, 3rd or 4th. Are these not risk free because your hoping for a specific outcome?

yeah so they are just simple back/lay and hope for the best. Use Match Catcher on PA and you should see a Qualifying loss of below 10p I would say for each one

Yeah works on phone fine. You might as well do the trial to get access to the tool for what you might make it’s worth a £1 punt!

1). BF 3/1 SP winner offer: you can make this risk-free if you either a. Find an exact odds match and overlay to cover your commission (e.g. 6.00/6.00 lay £10.20 at 2% commission), or b. An exact match on 0% commission.
Also, the horse has to be at Starting Price (SP) of 3/1 (4.00 decimal) or higher, so either take a higher priced horse earlier in the day or back closer to the off.

2). Paddy refund if 2nd/3rd/4th can be risk free if you find an exact match (say 4.00/4.00) or an arb (say 6.00/5.8) to give no qualifying loss. I'd avoid arbing that offer and look for a close match on the 2nd or 3rd favourite in the races with a clear favourite or few runners. So, the likes of Apples Jade or Laurina in the Champion Hurdle (Tues 3.30) - even though Apples might go off fave ahead of Buveur D'air. Maybe matched bet within 1 hour of the off.

Also, do not lay the BF 3/1 offer at BF exchange.

Can someone that is gubbed by SkyBet (I'm not!) Login to their site and tell me if they get the popup for the money back offer for Chelts?

The Cheltenham offers are designed to drag you in so betting on Cheltenham is expected, but you would have to do betting on non-offer races (because that is also what they expect).

One small word of warning regarding the combining of liabilities. It does work, but if you have covered 5 out of 10 horses you are 50% likely to win and therefore you are more likely to have your bankroll reduced in the exchange.

Do not rush with MB that is a definite route to errors and losses. The money back if lose offers are definitely worth a punt, but with £150 in the exchange I would concentrate on building up the bankroll.

Personally, I would not touch Cheltenham in anger without at least £1k in the exchange.

If you can afford to pump some money into the exchange and have it sit around for a few weeks then it is worth doing it (extracting winnings out of the bookie quickly is going to look suspicious)

worth pointing out there is still excellent value in these bets even if you cant get an exact match - a small QL on these is well worthwhile considering your chances of hitting the offers imo

Thanks for the advice everyone - really useful stuff! I will sit down tonight and have a look through the horse racing offers and at least make a start in having a go on some of them before Cheltenham. I'm not expecting to make my fortune this time around - but it will certainly give me the incentive to get my head around it all!

I get the first race special 'money back as cash if you lose' pop up when I log in @Jon - I was gubbed a couple of years ago and am stake restricted on their Price Boosts.

I've not tried anything else but am going to give this offer a go, if I can get a small enough QL.

Will post the result back here on the first day if possible :)
