Come to a dead end, close giving up

Hi all,
Before I start and share my story, I want you to know this is genuine and not a scam or anything.
Basically 3 months ago my mum had a serious head injury where she fell down the stairs backwards banging her head, she luckily managed to survive but ever since has been in critical care in the hospital. She hasn’t spoke a word or turned to her normal self, no one knows the outcome. She could be badly brain damaged we just don’t know, all she does is sleeps when we visit her.
Because of this me and my younger sister are having to run a house alone, where weve never had this situation before with just paying rent to my single mum. (Not a lot family help) Were both currently working but I was out of work before the accident as I was made redundant then got affected by mental health.
Basically what im on here for is I need some help\advice with money. The banks are useless and never give me an overdraft after having one years ago, ive never had issues or worries about money before but now I have and im scared. Were behind on the rent and if its not sorted so we could be homeless. Mum also doesn't get any benefits until she's out of hospital.
Even if someone could offer us a loan till after the new year (around 1k) I could pay it off in a couple months. Not on here for charity or sympathy im just on here for help and desperation as overtook my life and I have nothing

Hi Luke,

In addition to Citizens Advice, make contact with Turn2Us - you will, at least in the short term, have a caring duty to your mum when she leaves hospital, so they will be able to advise you and help you with what you are (both) entitled to. I think they've also got access to (or certainly information how you can access) grants and emergency funds, which will help in the shorter term.

So sorry you are going through this. Have to second the CAB recommendation. Ours is lovely, I even helped out for a while, I'm sure they'll be able to help.

Maybe not but they should be able to advise in regards to your existing bills and how to manage those when you don't have an income

Apologies for coming in late, but your best situation may be to apply for universal credit. They can do loans if you are in a tough situation, they will prioritise people in hardship. If you need help with the system please ask, used to be a UC claim advisor
