Hello

I'm concerned about MTD (Making Tax Digital) and wondered if there's anyone out there in the same boat as me with regards to their business. I'm self employed and have been for years but I only earn between £1200-£1500 a year. I only do surveys to earn my income so I don't even have any expenses unless I receive a Paypal payment for instance which has a fee. I've never had an accountant - I earn so little and my business is so straightforward, that I've never needed one but it's got me very concerned about having to use software to do my tax return as wouldn't that just be for a retail business?

I don't think it currently applies to those earning less than 10k a year. However, I think eventually everyone will have to get onboard with this. It does annoy me that they will not be supplying a means to do tax digitally but instead will rely on third party products (which will probably come with a price tag). I did not even know anything about it til your post and it seems to be really poorly explained as I don't understand what freelancers as opposed to actual businesses are meant to do!
