It looks as if virtually all sports are going to be off limits for some time. Do you think the monthly fee is worth it now?

As I understand it AT THE MOMENT

Racing is still on, it's just football that's off for 2 weeks though I feel that's more reactionary than anything as like they said if you go to a game at old traffic with 50,000+ you are only going to possibly infect the 2 or 3 around you not all 50,000 so I do think sport will come back at the beginning of April.

HOWEVER bookies will still want to be making money so I expect to see offers on Iran Divison 2 football lol

I think the main issue was that most matches had one player/staff member with the virus (or at least suspected) and most teams were going to have to self isolate anyway so three weeks was the 2 weeks of isolation and then 1 week to get back into training. Will be good for Spurs and a few other teams with big name injuries though.

Matched betting is screwed for the next month

The economy may well be screwed for a lot longer than that.

IMO we are going to be seeing a few months of this.

I just can't see it and I'll tell ya why

Lower league teams would financially crumble
Bookies would struggle
Less popular sports like Rugby League / Union / Darts etc would suffer
Sky Sports / BT need to show SOMETHING!!

I think this is why the government wanted to hold off on doing it because for the sake of say 10 new people getting the virus at every event the financial and business result would have been worse

There is just too much money involved in the sport for this to carry on beyond a month I would say at most. As soon as the warm weather comes around things will turn

Most sport in this country is bank rolled by TV contracts. If a sport pulls the plug on games on a voluntary basis, the TV sponsor could argue they are legally entitled to withhold payment as the sport as broken the contract. Does any one really think sky are going to pour multi millions into anything and get no return ?

Obviosuly I hope you're right but cases have popped up in warm weather countries, too. We don't know if warm weather is that key yet. I get the feeling it will slow down, though.

The ball is in the bookies court really - be interesting to see how they respond. Bet365 for example make over 600 million profit a year/50 million a month. They'll have to come up with something

Right so horse racing is still happening in Scotland, France and Ireland, it's just behind closed doors so I guess bookies can still work with that!

I wonder if we will see an increase in casino offers and virtual sports as the bookies try and get our money that way.

Right I would say horse racing (with no crowds) is something that can probably carry on. All it needs are the horses and staff / tv coverage / bookies can get their bets on - everyone’s happy!
