Could one make a blog out of short story telling?

As some of you know I earn money reselling on ebay. I also get a very small amount from my stories and non fiction booklets on KDP. My question is, (a) could one turn short <2000 word stories into a blog and (b) Could they be monetised? I have the ability to write at least one story a week and/or articles.

If you can get the eyeballs you can get the £££

Heck if you kept throwing up short stories and promoted the heck out of it via social media / google and then plonked media.net ads on ya site you could earn a great passive income!

Just remember that writing on its own won’t bring people in, you have to promote!!i

@Jon i may sound daft here but by “promote” do you mean that if you wrote a blog about horses, all the ads on there would be horse related? Or that you stick your link to said blog on other people’s site??
Great idea @Dick Barton

By promoting I mean

Promoting your site on twitter, Facebook, IG, Pinterest
And
Writing guest posts for other blogs within your niche that then give you backlinks back to your site

In terms of the ads that appear they would be a mixture of being related to the content and what the person has previously been searching for / looking at

And I’m assuming once a blog is first up and started, it’s a case of contacting similar blog people to ask if you can guest post?? So going back to my horse analogy, I might contact “horsesrus” to write about horse blankets, which in turn might send interested readers to my site where I sell horse blankets?
Sorry to crash your post @Dick Barton

Correct.

Also the more higher ranking backlinks you have the higher your domain authority which links into how much you can charge for sponsored posts etc

Wow, I wish I could write a story a week! I don't monetize my blog as such, I just write for pleasure and if it gets viewed it does, so I can't help you there.
How do you come up with the ideas for stories? I publish stories and poems on mine, but I'm very hit and miss - I can go months without posting because I can't think of anything to write about. Any hints? :)

I would do some keyword research and see what sort of keywords people might be searching for, but I think that socials, and growing those, would be a good way to get yourself out there.

Can't give you much in the way of tips. One way is to try out a first sentence and see if you can build a story around it. Try this.
She had terrible burns, but as the months passed and the dead skin fell away, she seemed to emerge like a beautiful phoenix from the ashes.

I've tried the story generators that give first lines, sometimes a story springs up, sometimes it doesn't. I seem to have my best ideas in the middle of the night, but then I've forgotten it by morning. I must get into the habit of jotting it down before going back to sleep.

A good idea. You can get these little dictaphones and just put a short reference into one of those. I do it sometimes if I see a book I might buy for reselling as you can bet by the time I get home I've forgotten the title.
