Hi,

Considering matched betting but will likely take a while to read everything properly and get new current account, email etc.. My main concern is any lasting financial implications that participating in matched betting might have for me, such as not being able to get a mortgage or remortgage or some impact on my credit rating.

Has anyone ever had any bother or know of any issues that have been due to MB?

Cheers,
J.

It has no impact on your credit rating.

You aren't getting a loan or anything with these bookies, all they do is a soft search sometimes the same as you would get if you went to buy a mobile phone online ;)

HOWEVER the transactions WILL appear on your statement which is why I use a separate bank account for matched betting away from our joint / main accounts ;)

Yeah what Jon said; it won't make a difference to your credit rating however if you do have a house purchase or something in the offing might be wise to use a separate account as it might look bad to have loads of money going out to the bookies if you're trying toprove to the bank how prudent you are...

Personally I don't bother but I've got my mortgage already :p

Great, thanks, both. Yeah, I'll get another current account (thinking to see if there's any with any offers while I'm there) and probably a new email too as it'll be easier to manage.

Thinking back I just got another account off my existing HSBC account to use. Took about 5 seconds to setup and then I was off to the races lol
