Not sure if this is the right section or if there’s already a thread on here for crypto discussion.

Just wondering if anyone invests in crypto here?

I got talking to someone online about Covid and he ended up telling me that he’s invested thousands in XRP which is currently involved in a lawsuit with SEC. To cut a long story short, lots of people seem to think XRP’s price could skyrocket soon. I’m not going to try and sell it to you because it’s all very complicated and it goes over my head :ROFLMAO: But I’ve invested £2,000.

Just wondering if anyone else is invested in XRP, or if you have other crypto investments that you believe in?

Thanks :)

I've not looked into XRP. I was put off by their regulatory problems.

Coins I like:

Crypto.com coin (CRO) - Crypto.com have a very aggressive marketing strategy which is getting lots of new users on board. They also offer a good cashback credit card, staking rates and defi. Already had a big rise this year but its a coin I hold for its utility and earning interest rather than speculation on price.

Cardano (ADA) - Smart contract blockchain that is still rolling out new developments and growing. Its pulled back a long way from its all time high after its last upgrade and could get back up there again quickly once new dapps start deploying on the blockchain and next upgrade is complete. And I like its founder and leader Charles Hoskinson. Its the only coin I've bought so far in the current dip as it feels undervalued to me.

Basic Attention Token (BAT) BAT is the coin used by the Brave Internet Browser. Advertisers buy advertising with BAT and users get paid out in BAT. Brave have just recently launched their own crypto wallet and internet search engine, which will hopefully attract more advertisers. The coin hasn't performed very well price wise, but I like the project and will stick with it. I don't buy any BAT, just hodl the ones I get free for seeing the ads.

Also Bitcoin as a store of value and hedge against Inflation and Ethereum in case it shoots up when ETH 2.0 rolls out. But you probably already know about those

I steer clear of all the shitcoins and dog coins. Even though people have made money on them, I just don't get the point of buying into something that has no use case.

I also keep away from NFTs. I don't understand the point of those either.

This channel is good for crypto news and info about different coins. https://www.youtube.com/c/CoinBureau/videos

Not me but since lockdown 2020 I know several people who have started, ask them why and all I hear is a constant desire to get rich quick (they don't pitch it like that but that's what I hear with the flimsy explanations as to why they've put money they don't have into these things).

I watched CNBC's Generation Gambler programme last week and I can see how these few success stories could cause people to want to follow suit but the fact is most crypto will fail to return any serious gains the risk is enormous and people who intended to get out of financial trouble will be even deeper in the red when it's all said and done.

I invested £100 in CRO a couple of weeks ago. That was the first one I did, just to test it out. I’m just going to leave it and see what happens.

I have got everything crossed for XRP though :ROFLMAO:

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to get rich quick. I had 10k so I felt like I could afford to invest 2k on a punt. I’ve given up smoking too since the new year so I’m just seeing it as the money I would have spent on fags.

Except it's lazy and encourages an instant-gratification mindset but the fact is most people who take punts on financial markets end up losing. At least you're using money you can afford to lose, some of my friends have been putting in their rent money, two have been scammed out of their money and all because they wanted quick cash.

£2k invested in the right buisness(es) could easily become £4k and then you could reinvest the £4k and get £8k and so on, all with much less risk but of course it won't happen overnight and it requires a bit of time and effort to do research and buy at the right time. But when I pitch this to generation gamble they're not interested because they don't understand that slow and steady wins the race each and every time.

According to a rehabilitated gambler who lost everything in Vegas, the worst thing that happened to him was winning on his first trip to a casino, he said had he lost he probably wouldn't have gone back.

I’m working very hard and this is something on the side.

If it were me I'd put the majority in a global index tracker or balanced multi asset fund, and take a small punt on crypto

Which others do you believe in?

Bitcoin, Matic,, Ethereum and Solona, Steem and Hive.

There are others which are speciulative, however I might post some topics explaining some of these. I have actually made around $1.5k by renting out digital cards. The crypto is massive.

Where are you holding XRP? Hopefully, not on the exchange because of issues with security.

I have some crypto. Not a lot and I'm only at the level of investing £20 here and £10 there lol but it interests me.

I don't anticipate any sizeable gains in the short term (though I'm certainly not judging anyone for wanting to get rich quick!) and I don't have enough to put in to make much in any event but in the long term who knows. I do try to read bits when I can but I basically just have a little bit of lots of things at the moment as I don't have the time to learn about it all.

Has anyone got more insight into the XRP lawsuit issue?
Is Ripple likely to win? (or reach a settlement with the SEC)

Somebody that I’m speaking to is very confident and says that it is a risk but a calculated risk. He said big companies are making deals with Ripple so he believes that means they know something we don’t. Also he told me to follow someone called Kevin Cage who is a multimillionaire and he is very confident about XRP too.
