Saw a leaflet today asking for people to help deliver the Yellow Pages. The link was http://www.deya.co.uk/Jobs.aspx

I posted it here as there are some home based opportunities on there, thought it may be of interest to some people. I've no idea who the company are or what they are like, it was just a flyer I saw today.

I did the Yellow Pages for them last summer in my area, they're totally legit. I did two routes, then was asked to do some extras as well. Luckily it was nice weather and easy areas - wouldn't fancy doing rural areas, places with giant houses with long driveways, etc ;D

I've delivered these before. You need plenty of storage space and a decent size car. Also be prepared for routes that are quite random e.g. one section of a town, then random roads elsewhere for no extra money. Some of mine I could see that someone had looked on a map & thought 'oh, they're close together' but in reality to get to them I had to drive an extra 10 miles, then to get to the other randoms it was about 4 mile return trip. I pointed this out to them & the route was the same the following year. I complained both times & also reminded them that they'd been informed of the issue & did manage to get a bit extra from them but only because I was persistent.

I didn't bother after that & when they rang me wanting me to deliver again, I pointed out my issues with them. I can't remember who I did it through though. It was just an add in the paper.

Had a phone call from this lot last week, so have managed to secure a team leader position which is mostly working from home for a short period up to and throughout the delivery times in my area. Decent money for the effort that's required too (I had minimal contact with my TL as a deliverer last year, so hopefully that's standard!), worth applying for if they still have vacancies.

It's a set fee, plus mileage, I think it varies depending on the size of the area. I'm wary of giving out specifics but based on the amount of work I expect it's considerably more than minimum wage (it's a fair bit north of £300 for a relatively small area with the correspondingly relatively small team).

There's two half-days you have to be in attendance - the training session and the day when you hand out paperwork to folk when they come to collect their books, then if I remember correctly there's an hour or two when you're available for people to hand their paperwork back to you and give you back any spare books a week later, otherwise it's just helping out with recruitment in your area for the couple of weeks prior to fill any gaps (though Deya do a lot of that themselves) and being available on the phone throughout the delivery week to chat to the deliverers in your area as and when they need it. I think I only texted my team leader two or three times when delivering last year. so I'm not anticipating more than half an hour per team member as a generous average. There's a possibility of follow-up stuff to be done if any of your team give you problems, but I'm hoping that won't happen! And of course, you can take a delivery route yourself for more money (and to save on your recruitment efforts, I guess ;D ). I may well be recruiting my husband!

I'll report back on the time spent/money given ratio after the event if it helps anyone for next year.

And also, once I get my area, I'll post the details on here if anyone wants to deliver for me (West Central Scotland) ;D
