Anyone else trying to lose weight at the moment? Fancy swapping tips and goals? I could always do with another motivational buddy or five!

I'm 4 stone down and counting, using the MyFitnessPal app. (It's a free app for those who don't know, that logs calories and exercise). I haven't been in the 'red' on my calories (1,200 a day) all year :) Longest time I've ever managed to keep a New Year's Resolution!

Anyone else? :)

I started in November, up until March I was doing great; I'd almost lost 2 stone but then we lost my mother-in-law and the husband went into a funk (which meant I went into a funk).

We are back on the wagon as of Monday, we are both on Weight Watchers as it is the only one that works for us both. I will then be doing DDP Yoga Mon, Wed, Fri then skipping (rope) on Tue & Thur with a long walk on a Wednesday morning after dropping the child at school.

I want to lose at least 5 stone, 6 would be best before I hit 30 at the end of November.

Sorry to hear about your circumstances in March, but sounds like you've really got it sorted for losing that weight before your birthday! I've done Weight Watchers before, but it was the old style scheme :) It is quite easy to follow, isn't it!

Please tell me more about DDP Yoga - I'd love to pick up a few classes as I'm moving from the sticks to London in a month and will be able to access things like that :)

Do share any low-cal (or low point) snacks/meals you find, too, I love discovering new bits to eat :)

I know nothing about WW or Slimming World except that they require monthly payments.

Is there something else they offer Chammy that things like myfitnesspal don't which are free?

Oh definitely count me in!

I want to lose 2 stone before going to Florida in Sept. It is 14 weeks away, so 2lbs a week. After that then who knows, it would just be great to do this.

I always hit a wall after losing 1 stone and can never go past that. I'm determined to do it this time. A combination of MFP, swimming and generally trying to move more.

Just to note that when I started on WW, I used the WW points system but didn't pay or go to meetings. I *believe* the reason some people like the paid schemes is because they have weigh-in meetings for support/motivation.

MFP is so good! So easy to track. Wow, 2lbs a week - good luck! :)

MFP is calorie based isn't it..

2lbs a week on food alone I bet would be quite a drop in what you can eat each day. Although obviously you would counter that somewhat by going swimming

I kinda follow slimming world, don't pay for it or go to meetings. It is mainly clean eating but you can have the odd treat (up to 20 syn's a day I think).

I used to use my fitness pal, my daily goal on there is 1500 calories, don't think I could live on less lol. I have actually restarted mfp today as I was doing really well on it.

I did fall off the band wagon a bit when i stopped breast feeding around a month ago, all I seem to be doing is comfort eating so that needs to stop. I only have around 1 stone to loose although I will be happy when I loose 7lb so that will be my first goal. I am hoping to increase the amount of exercise I do. I've just started on the 100 press ups and 100 sit ups app (both are free!)

On the giffgaff forum we have an endomondo group so starting from today any exercise you do will enter to win prizes, I think its running till July (you have to have an active giffgaff account to enter.. if you want to join see the link in my signature ;-) )

Sorry, been out all day. Neither of us attend the meetings but we pay one lot of subscription so we have access to the tracking facilities and the mobile app. We know we can do it free, there are places out there that offer the same resources but when in the supermarket doing our shop it is easier to use the app to compare the point value of food rather than using a website. Also much easier to record what you eat when you are out and about via the app.

We tried doing it for free and it just didn't work, neither of us lost anything.

I gave MFP a go ages ago but counting calories is really too much effort for me. I know that I can eat all the fruit and veg I want at no cost on WW but having to weigh a salad as I make it just for the calorie count seems like a waste of time.

It's cool how different things work for different people! I need a really strict structure, so "never ever go over 1,200" works for me, whereas I couldn't possibly follow the 'free fruit and veg' rule because I'd massively overindulge hahaha, I'm too much of a banana/satsuma/grape fiend!

What's the DDP Yoga like, Chammy? :)

How did you get to this 1200 calorie total?

Is it based on 'what you should have' for your age/size/height?

I have spent many hours trying to tell people that different diets work for different people. A strict diet doesn't work for us, when we are denied anything we gravitate towards it. We like WW as it means if we want a McDonalds on a Saturday afternoon after the supermarket shop because the child wants a Happy Meal then we can, and it doesn't have to be a salad ;)

I love DDP Yoga, it really is good workout that doesn't put any strain on your body. You create your own resistance which means no lifting, so no chance of damaging muscles. The first day I tried it my knee (which HURTS a lot) stopped hurting, something clicked and that was it. You can work as hard as you want, Dallas doesn't want you to do more than you can unlike things such as Insanity or 30 Day Shred. I highly recommend it :D

The infomercial for that used on to be repeat on every music channel before I went to work a few years ago. Lots of sweat and people talking in closed sentances to camera ' I didn't think I could do it......and then I realised I could!'

all you need is 20 minutes a day blah blah

Haha yeah, then I watched the workouts and nearly died ;) Pretty sure it'd cause me more harm than good.

I think that is a fair point

if you are not in the place where your body is used to that level of exercise or isn't 'right' for it then you will either end up not getting much from it or worse still causing you damage

all the people in the adverts seems to be quite 'gym ready' at the start

So with all this dieting and weight loss talk I have decided to reignite my website, blog and Vlog that I started at the end of last year and while being off the wagon I have neglected. Both have had a little revamp as I am now a little better with Blogger since setting up my craft blog. Will be posting links in my sig as soon as I am ready for it to go public.

That blog sounds great! A few of my friends set up Where Are My Knees (http://wherearemyknees.blogspot.co.uk/) which I love reading.

How's everyone doing? I'm doing okay with it atm. I'm probably going to weigh in tomorrow morning - we are going to KFC tomorrow night (I can't get out of it) so I'm looking at healthier options. I may go for 2 pieces of chicken without eating the skin or fries.

I was too sick to go swimming last night, I zonked out early too. I'm going to Aldi tonight for more fruits and veg and then swimming on the way home.

For my current weight, 2lbs a week is 4 1/2 hours of swimming a week!

I weigh in on a Friday, means we can have our weekly points allowance over the weekend when we are together as a family; it is also our more social time so we may go to a friends for the night etc, keeps us covered.

I plan on a nice long walk tomorrow morning, we invested in a nice new pair of bottoms for me to go out in rather than jeans so I should be a little more comfortable. I think I will try 30 mins then turn around and come home, I have runkeeper on my phone so it'll tell me how far I got and calories burned etc.
