Insanity really does work and fast, I think the sales pitch puts a lot of people off. Scary how quickly you body can get into shape, does take it out on your calfs though..

Has anyone tried intermittent fasting? I was on my hols last week so ate like an oink, but back on it this week. It is like the 5/2 diet but it is 7 days a week and you are not restricted to 500 cals. Calories only permitted in 8 hour window. I do 10 am to 6 pm as it suits my lifestyle. So giving up my cuppa with Corrie was hard at first. Once you are at the weight you like then you have a few days off a week.
I have lost a LOT of weight in the past and the struggle isn't losing but keeping it off. Tried every diet going but this is the easiest. I do kickbox but I have been unable to train and my trainer ill/busy so missed more weeks than I've done in the last few months. I do have free lessons so can't complain. The kickboxing is more for toning than weight loss anyway.

We tried the 5:2 before it became popular, back then you had to not eat for 24 hours twice a week, when you could eat you could only eat for 5 hours. So you'd have your dinner at 7pm then not eat again until 7pm but you could eat what you wanted for 5 hours. Then the next day you at normally. We did ok at first but then the lack of food during the day wasn't good for the husband (he's a telecoms engineer) and he needed the energy during the day.

how unearth can you possibly sustain something like that over the long term.

Changing eating habits should mean a change in lifestyle to how you eat/view food. Not not eating for 48 hours every week.

To be honest it wasn't hard, there have been times in our lives that we only ate once a day especially when we both worked for McDonalds. We'd do a closing shift (have break at 7/8), get in at 1/2am then if we were back in at say 2 we'd be up at 1, quickly dressed then our break would be 5/6ish so almost 24 hours later.

Like I said the only reason we stopped was because the husband needs energy for his job, it's dangerous for him to run on empty. If he was in an office we'd probably still be doing it (and be thin) ;)

I don't have the first clue but..

do you think being a stay at home parent has an impact on how well you can successfully diet at all? If you think you would be thin if you went out to work each day why is that?

I think it does yeah, while at home I have access to the fridge, the crisps, the kettle. If I was out at work I'd only have what I've taken with me, probably the reason the husband is loosing faster than me (plus I spend most of my day sat on my butt at the PC :p )

I had a lot of success with 5:2 as in eating just 500 calories on the 2 days. Those 2 days were tough and I consistently lost 2lbs a week doing it. I'm not doing it now because I found it was just an excuse not to go to the gym because I was on a 500 cal day

I follow someone on Twitter and Instagram who has lost over 4 stone this year. She posts each and every single meal and bit of exercise. I resent her a bit because I don't have time to do 2 exercise DVDs a day and then go for a 5 mile walk, and prepare all my nicely chopped up fruits and vegetables, etc.

I guess the grass is always greener....

Sorry I've just spammed this thread!

The good news is that I've lost 6lbs this week! Of course it is my first week, so a lot of retained water has gone, but I'm pleased with that. Just 22lbs more to go.

I certainly ate a LOT more when I worked full time, but then that was before I had children!

Fab to hear that everyone's weighing in well :) I'm moving to London in a month and am looking at exercise classes... Not sure if I'm brave enough! x
