Because I am beginning to think they just might you know,

When I think back to 2001ish when I first started looking into earning money online Surveys were around then paying out the 50p/£1 and 17 years later that rate of pay hasn't changed and if anything seems to have actually gone down thanks to all the survey / consumer companies that seem to ask people questions through swagbucks and other clicksites.

I've seen a LOT of online earning ops come and go but I think with the exception or maybe Mystery Shopping nothing has been around as long as surveys. I see Facebook groups out there with thousands upon thousands of UK members all going nuts earning their 30p and talking about how it's life-changing and it just baffles me but there is clearly a VERY captive audience but the churn rate for new people to do them must be insane!

Maybe it's the convenience factor, maybe it's the fact you don't have to do any real work with them and you can just do them on autopilot but I think online surveys paying 50p will honestly still be here in about 20 years!!!

I think people will always want to get 10p for spending 20 minutes on a survey because they don't want to do anything else.

I imagine that there will soon be a 'higher status' survey site that offers a better quality of survey taker. Hopefully they will pay more but I imagine a lot of marketeers want a 'lowest common denominator' rather than quality survey takers.

I've been thinking that for years but it just never seems to happen with the exception being the likes of Prolific or Respondent. Like I said all I seem to see is the paid price per survey actually going down. 'Do this survey on washing powder for 7 swagbucks!' WTF!!!

People need to wake up and smell the coffee and stop doing surveys for pennies

That just gets seen as a 'slight annoyance' and they carry on ploughing on!

I think you are right in that there will ALWAYS be people who will do them and it's far easier than whatever they must have had to do in the olden days like get people into a room and actually ask them questions or whatever

30p to me is nothing. 30p to someone in a third world country is a lot! As long as you can read and write reasonably, you can fill a survey. As long as there are people out there willing to work for peanuts, surveys will continue.

And yes I do do surveys, but I cherry pick the well paid ones and discard the rest :)

Absolutely this! The rate of pay will NEVER improve because there is always going to be people out there who will accept the pittance they offer.

I deactivated my swagbucks account a few weeks ago after using it for about 6 years. I ended up hating it after constantly being banned from surveys, not been credited for offers etc. Don't get me wrong though I did make a couple of hundred pounds from it over the years but I realised how many hours I was putting into the site for little money.

Yeah it can be pretty shocking when you look at the amount of time you spend on survey sites vs what you actually get out but people DO seem to love them and just gloss over the god awful pay lol

I still use survey websites, and make £100s a month. Nowhere near what I used to make, as I only spend time on the better paying work, but I still do some surveys. Almost daily.

I like monies. I don't really do 10p or 50p surveys though. Except for Onepoll now they've got a mobile app, I do those on my walk to/from nursery while I listen to podcasts.

I still do them. I use fewer sites than I did though and stick to better-paying ones. A lot have the same surveys anyways so when using lots of sites, I found I was not really earning more than I am now as you often can only do a survey once.

I've heard many people swear by the Swagbucks site, personally I'd be swearing at it. It would be less hard going to collect a thousand grains of sand from Southport Beach. I'm forever on the lookout for the latest site but there are far better people than me searching. Until recently and after stumbling across the "Boost My Budget" blog (I think that's the name!) I'd never heard of Prolific. This has to be the best surely? In the "olden" days I remember saving up loads of luncheon voucher £4 booklets earned from PineCone Research. Now it's £3 per survey and I'm sure they've been swallowed up by another organisation as the site seems to have the same generic feel as most of the others. IE, the screen that says "let's find you another survey"!

I still do a few mostly if I am travelling by bus and only sites that rarely screen me out. I gave up on Swagbucks a few years ago - it just isn't worth it for the time involved and there are a lot like that out there.

Members who joined in the olden days still get £4 per survey ;)

I was quite naughty really. I had been with pinecone for a while when one day I couldn't sign in. If I remember rightly I queried it and they said from time to time they drop members for new ones and once dropped, you could never reapply. I think I sent them an email to say it was bad practice to block people without telling them why, but in the grand scheme of things it's no big deal is it. I did sign up again later and still do it but they don't seem to send out product evaluations to do like they used to.

No, they don't have much going on now. Back in the day, they were a good earner, with often 3 studies a week. Now its more like 3 a year.
