Do you do anything to keep the cost of Christmas down?

For us, we do a BIG shop at COSTCO before the big day (week) which helps bring in all the usual stuff we might need but apart from that I'm not sure we do a whole lot.

I'm not much of a foodie but Christmas week is the one time of year when I like to splurge on things food-wise and have nice food since everyone is around and not working!

Do you count the pennies when it comes to Christmas Week?

This year, we are probably going to have a Lidl Christmas as one has opened up near us. I have heard good things so hoping to save money and enjoy yummy food. Also we have cut down on some of the presents we are buying, agreed with some adults not to swap gifts and only give to the children. I really don't want anything so seems silly for people to waste money.

I tend to save all my card points over the year (Morrisons, nectar) and use them at Christmas. The nectar ones come in handy for the double points weekend usually the beginning of December - I usually buy the christmas ev pjs and the nice wine etc.

The Morrisons ones go on the food shopping.

My parents praise Lidl meat until the cows come home (lol) Meat and the Wines!!

It's amazing how many people I see saying they are cutting down on present buying! We've spoken to other adults in our family to say we are just doing cards this year instead of sending them presents, they are fine with it ;)

How do you get on with Morrisons points

We go there once or twice a week, prob spend £25-£35 and it takes like 10 months to get the free £5 lol

I get Morrisons stamps and collect vouchers through the year. We are a small family so don't cut back on presents - even this year when my nephew is 21 on the 27th. Two close friends and I stopped presents a few years ago as we were getting each other vouchers as we couldn't think of things we wanted - especially the one whose birthday is the 9th - and will have a night out in January.

I saved up about £20 over the year. I normally swap and change who I shop with depending on offers. Im happy with what I got but to be honest tend to get more points through Sainsbury's.

One thing we have cut back on is the amount of extra food we buy. We found we were buying so many extras and then throwing them out come January. We tend to just show normally, but must-haves are Pringles and some tubs of sweets.

I buy odds-sods thru out the year.
Our local Debenhams was closing down. I purchased many stocking filler type items for 25p-75p, then stash them away
