Do you ever see yourself stopping this online earning malarky?

I don't know about you but I only doing this online earning stuff to bring in some extra beer money so I'm not quite sure how it's got to the point of me now working part-time and earning a fair wedge of cash. I certainly wouldn't say it happened overnight and it's been a very long road over the years but my worry is there does it all end?

Are we all just going to be online earning forever? Will Swagbucks and co even still exist in 10 years time, heck, we've all seen a pretty big shift in the taskapp market with Yoomic going away and T360 being shutdown?

Are we all going to just keep going this until we die? Am I going to have to keep paying TMS Upgrade costs until the end of time?????

I sort of think once I retire I would stop doing all this online stuff but apart from that, I haven't given myself an endpoint at all when maybe I should!

For me it's pretty much a hobby and I don't think I'll ever see myself stopping coming up with projects (despite the fact most of them don't go anywhere) - I'm not sure I'd know what to do with my time otherwise. I don't think I'll ever earn much online so for me it's more something to do.

I give up on most survey sites as I get bored with them but have been developing website projects for years and I don't think I could stop as each one presents a different challenge to try and make them work which keeps me interested.

Yeah I agree starting new projects such as websites / blogs is very addictive. Building the site, seeing if it works out, getting peoples reactions to it etc. It gives you a huge sense of control that you don't have in a lot of other areas of your life I think!

If it wasn't for Matched Betting the only thing I would be doing to earn money online would be the former and the options for creating website are endless!!

It's funny because I keep thinking about this as well. Thing is that there always seems to be something else that needs paying for..

Personally I find it quite comforting to know what if everything all went a bit wrong, I could survive (with a bit of effort) just working online.

I am just happy to see where it all takes me at the moment and am trying not to think to hard about the future!

I think the way we earn online will change. I only do the odd good surveys now as I don't have a long enough free period to finish them and they are fiddly on a phone. Whereas quick ones via apps are easy to do.

I think there will always be online work, but it will evolve into something very different over the years from what we are used to.
Maybe virtual reality will come to the fore a bit more and we will be able to work in offices and visit shops virtually instead of walking there.
I would like to think that there would be shops to go and do mystery work in, but looking at how many shops are sitting vacant on the high street and town centre, I'm not sure on that one. I think more and more people will shop exclusively online and bricks and mortar stores will be few and far between.
When I retire, I think I will still do some online work, just to keep me occupied as much as anything. I think he who must not be obeyed has seen the light and will start doing a little online work to supplement our income when he retires too.

I started 20 years ago (that makes me feel very old) collecting Beenz, which were points on little Java applets dotted around the (then much smaller) internet. Anyone remember them? I could only get part time work after Uni and moved on to Mystery Shopping and surveys, later on to matched betting and now mostly apps, focus groups, University studies and still surveys, which I mindlessly fill out in front of the tv. Aim in the next couple of months is to revive the Matched Betting as I know it's easy money and by far the best for effort in/cash out. I was a hardcore comper for a while and won a holiday to Thailand among other lovely things.

I can't imagine a time I will ever not make use of the internet's huge earning potential. I live in London and it's the difference between having a good time and scraping by. I am excited to see what the future holds in terms of money making ways that haven't been invented yet!

I am retired and I still find it adictive. I like trying to master new online skills and it gives me something to talk to my children about. It is also good to be able to afford treats for my grandchildren. Swagbucks seems to be in a bit of trouble but I am sure it will survive.

I have been trying to think what my first online task was. I did sell books on Amazon for a few years. Please pay for the money shed upgrades for a few more years Jon.

Swagbucks have recently cut the bonuses they pay for watching videos, search wins and such like, I think they are having to cut costs.

I started 'phone farming' in April and there has been a big downturn in most / all apps that pay you to view advertising since the end of June, eg the Perk apps have been withdrawn from the UK google play store.

I think it's because the World Cup sucked in lots of advertising spend. We are also at the start of a new quarter, when ads tend to be lower, so now we are on an ad drought for a month or two. Just my 2p though.

I've been cut to 4 swagbucks per app (apart from Swagbucks TV) now for a week or so.

You'd think Swagbucks would drop the daily targets to keep us going, in the meantime .... haha I keeeeeel me!

I don't look at 'blogging' as work so I will continue that as long as I enjoy it.

'Online' money making - Its possible I'd start selling off my old things on ebay. I'd probably continue to do that.

There will always be new ways to make money through non-traditional means. On-line is the new frontier (well, not so new!) and hopefully it can keep me funded as long as possible.

I agree with a lot of the posts above (and yes, I remember Beenz lol)

My income from GPT (get paid to) sites stays pretty level even through the downturns, June and July are notoriously slow months, as are January and February, but I find it easy to pick up the slack elsewhere.

Regarding Swagbucks:

They've been pretty much ignoring their UK members since they launched Swag IQ for the US in January this year. All of their time and effort (and money) seems to be going into this, and the UK (and Canada it seems) have suffered for it.

First goals have risen while earning potential has dropped.

* Toolbar TV used to be around 25-30sb a day - it's now only 2 or 3, on a lucky day you might get 4
* Search wins have been reduced, both in frequency of wins (I used to easily get 4 a day, now i'm lucky if I get 2) and in SB awarded (the max I've seen in our GPTGenies group is 13 recently whereas we used to frequently get people getting 100)
* Swago is getting harder to earn maximum bonus, or even a half decent bonus, as they've structured it that unless you use both a phone AND a laptop/PC then the maximum bonus you can get is 5sb rather than 50 or 300)
* They've almost stopped supporting their Influencers - we used to get advance warnings of things such as Collector's Bills, Team Challenges, Swago, Extravaganza Days etc. - now we're lucky if we get any copy for anything, and it usually arrives after we've already written our own posts because if we didn't, everyone else would get there first.
* First goals have been increased - it was regularly 70-90SB last year to get a first goal bonus, now it's frequently and most often over 100SB
* Goal bonuses have reduced - they were always 10% of your actual first and second goal, now they are less - it's only a few SB but they do add up for the monthly bonus, and people notice
* And of course the apps used to be worth a minimum of 70SB a day with very little input, first they moved to ads that you had to click out of, then the 40 second ads that ran after every video, and now they've reduced it so the max you can get in a day without bonus rounds (which are also reduced now as opposed to 6 months ago) is 34SB

I wouldn't say they are in trouble as such, but they are tightening the purse strings for the UK & Canada - possibly other countries too. The US have had some tightening of earnings, but they are still earning way more than the UK (which is understandable as Swagbucks has more US advertisers).

Regarding stopping earning online:

I think once something becomes a habit or routine, or you get used to having the money - whether it be an extra £50 a month or an extra £500 - then it is difficult to stop. I'm a very routine focused person, so there are certain things I do during my day - some focused on GPT earnings, some on my 'real life' work, some on househoold and family stuff, and some on learning new things. My online earning sites and apps may change - for example I now spend more time on InstaGC than I do on Swagbucks - but the 'system' stays the same.

In our Facebook group we have a good range of ages - teenagers right up to 90 years old, and they're all happy plotting their own course as to how and how much they earn.

Of course, the Holy Grail is to get a million good referrals and earn from them, but good referrals (and I mean refs, not affiliates) need supporting and nurturing and helping - not everyone is willing to put the time into that. Which is kind of how GPTGenies.com started!

So no, I don't think people will stop earning online, but as some posters above have said, the ways in which they do will probably change. More people use phones and tablets now so apps and decent mobile sites will be the way forward, and with the success of games like Pokemon Go! and earning apps such as Snatch using AR, I'm surprised more GPT apps haven't maximised the opportunity already.

Accas are honestly one of easiest things to do I think to make money with Matched Betting

the entire thing is done for you. Who to bet on, how much, what you will make etc... It's all worked out!

Leapforce made up the shortfall for me when my hours were cut in my main job - it's hard to get two regular part time jobs that fit together. Obviously there is not great security there but a six month contract is a lot better than other jobs! I have only a few years till I retire and I would like to carry on with the online work in retirement if I can. Hopefully keep the dementia at bay ...
