Do you find it hard to switch off from earning money online?

Wow that's a lot of pressure, If you don't mind me asking but are you the only income into the house or do you have an other half who also brings in money as well @Leeceford ?
Luckily @Jon hubs earns good money but after 14 years of me earning decent (even if part time for many years) money too, it is not really an income I can afford to do without. I paid off my credit cards with some of my redundancy money so I can afford to bring in less than I used to but I would hate for family life to suffer in any way as I haven't brought in enough so hubs has to cover me if you see what I mean.
We've booked a proper abroad holiday next month and apparently the hotel has crap wifi. However much I cannot wait and really need the break (I have had a stressful couple of years) I am already panicking slightly about what I am going to do to make up the week I will be out of action.

I used to find it very hard to switch off but after 10+ years of making money online (could be 14 if including cashback) I've definitely learned to prioritise my time better and enjoy holidays where I can completely switch off (although things like camping help when you've no phone signal to check emails etc!). Now maternity leave will be another matter because I've definitely never gone for longer than a week without doing something!

I think once that FOMO thing has gone it's a lot easier to be happier with what you to do.

I can think of oodles of people in the 'earning money from home' world who just work day and night 7 days a week and don't seem to have any enjoyment in other areas of their life.

Probably just seems that way, after all with social media scheduling it is possible to appear to be online all the time. Someone last week told me to relax and enjoy my holiday instead of writing online. I didn't see it until I got home as I wasn't online for more than 10 minutes a day during my week off.

Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors.

Travel bloggers (vloggers) are the prime example of that

They go on these amazing holidays but have to record the thing and edit it and upload. No real switch off time for them...

I feel exactly like this sometimes and find it really hard to switch off. I do this full time and am always conscious that work may quieten down at any point so you have to take it while you can, plus trying to make up for unpaid holiday time etc. I do find myself planing my life around it sometimes but I'm trying to have a bit more balance lately, for example I turn my laptop off and don't work after 7pm most nights but then then I do sometimes feel guilty and sit there wondering what I'm missing out on!

This has put me off a few smaller opportunities in the last few months.I don't want to go for dinner and have to take a photograph of every single course and drink and five photos of the layout etc.

I found I was not switching off at all and I was getting to the point where I had to hit that target, hit that swag limit, empty my emails etc etc now I relax a little and have taken up reading on evening to switch off, its going ok just awaiting my next batch of books to arrive haha!

I never switch off.. haha...I have always taken work seriously whether online or offline, I need the money so I have to work....I dedicate more time to "work that pays more" . Am still learning to find the balance between work and family life, to be honest as long as my daughter is comfortable and the laptop is by my side , other things can wait...lol

Yeah That's pretty much how I used to be when I was working for 63336/AQA/Bongo

I had this bloody £20 target in my head that I HAD to reach each day to bring in £600 odd or whatever a month from it and sometimes when I was out all day it would drive me mad and I would feel I had to work twice as much the next day to keep up to speed with everything!

Yeah getting the balance right can take quite a bit of time. Especially when you are constantly exposed to new ways to earn and the ability to close off lower paying work and do more higher paying stuff!

I found when I started a few years ago I was doing every survey possible and not really getting anything from it, signed up to too many sites and not really spending enough time on 1 to hit any targets or having too many emails with surveys by the time I got to read them the survey was closed or I got timed out. This time around I'm trying to vary things a bit and organise things better. I will give everything a try but will need to learn to give up on some sites and focus on a few good earners rather than wasting time on every click / survey.
As I work fulltime, I try to fit everything into lunchtimes or on my commute, I manage to sneak some bits in during the day if Im not too busy at my desk (like now!) I'm hoping this time around with a bit more effort and organisation I can start saving a bit more money towards enjoying what I make. I don't find it easy to switch off but I'm getting better even if I am constantly checking my phone for alerts its not for long and I try not to do it so much at the weekend.

Despite having a solid income, I find it hard to switch too. It feels like, the internet is full of opportunities to grab and feels bad to miss them :p
I think however, I have become more selective now and I set lower targets for myself. This is partly/mostly having a busier job. I also want to read/exercise more. So try to spend time on them.

I'm defo in the working day and night 7 days a week category but I'm only just starting out and figure balance will come into it when things get a bit more established. Needs must in the meantime. :)

That was definitely me when I first started out. I was doing every bit of work I could find no matter how crap the pay was!

Fitting stuff around work used to be my thing as well, many a time I would sneak out at lunch to go and do Field Agent tasks!
