If i'm honest I find it quite hard to flick the off switch sometimes.

I find I am FAR to reactive when it comes to the opportunity to earn some extra cash online. I'm very much in the mindset that if I don't grab an opportunity someone else will say yes to it and then they have got that money.

On the smartphone apps that people use like Roamler / Task360 etc if you aren't reactive enough when the tasks come out you literally don't get a chance to earn any money with them as someone will grab the task from you in real time and you will end up left with nothing.

I don't think there is ever going to be a 9-5 mentality for working from home. It just doesn't sit with how the work comes in and I think if you want to earn a decent amount of money from home maybe it's best to just accept it!

I can't count how many how many times I'm worked late into the evenings on something. Be it Leapforce or some other task that needs doing!

Half the reason I'm sat here on a Saturday afternoon writing this post now is because I have a load of other things I have to do online and if I wait until Monday to do them then it will just push everything else back.

I remember when I used to get send oodles of edigitalresearch tasks to do (those Holiday ones!) and I would plough through them like no tomorrow and then ask for even more to be sent to me!!! Lord knows why as at times I just felt like I was doing it all on autopilot.

Do you ever have a problem with switching off from earning online Or do you have a constant voice in your head saying MUST EARN MONEY! MUST EARN MONEY!

There is definitely no 9-5 when working from home. I'm a bugger for taking on too much and then crashing and burning. The temptation to earn is far too strong sometimes but I'm slowly learning to prioritise by putting my health and my family first. At the end of the day they are what really matter the most, but then everyone's situation is different.

I do love how diverse online earning is though, the possibilities are endless. I've taken a step back lately but I know I can always pick up again where I left off. It's been really hard to switch off but totally necessary.

Yeah, I can't switch off either. My lappy goes on at 7a.m. and I do a first sort through of e-mails etc. As new stuff comes in through the day, I feel compelled to do it as soon as possible, because if I don't, it probably won't be there later. I often have to really have a stern talk to myself, or I would be working 16 hour days seven days a week, and what's the point of earning the lovely lolly if you then never detach yourself from your lappy to get out and spend it!
I've even gone out for the day and started thinking about all of the stuff that I'm missing out on - and as for the stress of a week's holiday with no internet...........................

Definitely agree, in fact if I'm not actively earning money at that moment, I'm trying to search for new websites/apps to make more. Then I have to sign up then and there otherwise I forget, and then further still I often have to fill out the profile questions. Sometimes, I even go to bed making a list of money related things to do tomorrow. I definitely have to learn to pace myself.

Good point about taking on too much @MrsWebster147 - I think maybe for me it's a FEMO (Fear of missing out) thing and I worry that If I don't do job A I won't be invited back to do job B by the same company!

I feel that's very much the case in blogging where relationships are EVERYTHING and building them up with PR companies takes time and they need to know you can product the good work they want when you work for them.

I agree the possibilities are endless. There's just SO much out there!!

haha that going out and then thinking about what you are missing out on is a big one for me.

I tend to be out doing something and think of some great idea I want to implement or try out and want to get home to get on with it!!

Like I said i'm my own worst enemy!

Yeah trying find better ways to earn more money is less time is a BIG thing for me as well @Mxmas2512 - It's the only way we can effectively get a pay rise when it comes to earning online from home!

I don't feel I ever switch off. Even when I go to bed to watch TV I end up watching YT vids of resellers to try and learn more about what I should be looking out for etc.
I'm normally busy all day and don't get chance to do Leapforce until late at night so it is not uncommon for my laptop to be on until 11pm.
The amount of times I have been out at weekends or in the evening and I have had to pull my phone out to lay another leg of an acca or something...
I feel under enormous pressure all of the time. Since my redundancy this has become my only source of income, I have my nice redundancy payout as a buffer but I really don't want to have to use that on bills.

Wow that's a lot of pressure, If you don't mind me asking but are you the only income into the house or do you have an other half who also brings in money as well @Leeceford ?

Recently i've actually found it easy to switch off because i've made an effort to do so. I was spending so much time trying to make extra money that it just wasn't healthy and it actually became quite tedious. That being said, i do fee myself slipping back into it as i'm determined to get my earnings up this year!

To be fair though, i always saw this kind of stuff as a hobby, one which i enjoyed. One of the main benefits to it is that it's not like a 9-5; you can jump in and out as you please.

I used to be the same.

However, since having my daughter I just care a bit less. We are not going hungry and we are in a fortunate position to not NEED the extra money. I just work as and when I want to now. For example I'll work now as my daughter is napping, for maybe 45-60 minutes. Then we will play toys and relax during the morning. I'll be on social media a little but more for chatting than working.

I've found a much better balance now and stopped worrying about every single penny. When really I didn't need to. My FOMO is pretty much gone.

You know, Jon's hit upon an important point here. Rising inflation is one of the biggest threats to the income you earn online and there's no real way to hedge against it other than working longer hours to make up for it. I'm not aware of any of the main companies increasing their pay year on year, and if anything some of them seem to be cutting pay. (Pinecone and one of the website testing companies have both cut the amount they payout to new members, and there are probably others) As there are increasing numbers of people looking for online earning opportunities there is little incentive for Roamler et al to give us a pay rise, even though the costs of travelling around doing the jobs has increased. Likewise, matched betting free bets that were £10 five years ago will still probably be £10 in another five years. It's not like their gonna say we've increased our free bets in line with inflation so this year you can have a £10.23 free bet.

Thought I'd add my 2 pence to this thread.

Although I'm a beginner and I'm just scratching the surface with earning money on line, it is a release to do something I ultimately want to do. I have a slightly obssessive nature and that applies to all of my hobbies.

I work full-time as a debt advisor for a charity and in all honesty I find the rigidity of a 9-5 job one of the most soul destroying things on the planet. Therefore If I have to work solidly in my free time to learn about the opportunities that exist to earn money online I will do what is necessary. For me, it's a balance of what I have to do to versus what I want to do in life. I hope for the scales to be better balanced in the future and it is hard to switch off that motivation to make things better.

Making an effort to switch off is a real challenge as it means you really need to stick to it, no questions asked!

Like you I started out with all of this as a 'hobby', i'm not too sure where the lines crossed really lol

I think once that FOMO thing has gone it's a lot easier to be happier with what you to do.

I can think of oodles of people in the 'earning money from home' world who just work day and night 7 days a week and don't seem to have any enjoyment in other areas of their life.

Good point, I can't think of any that have RAISED what they pay in the last few years and like you've said, many have ended up paying less.

This again is why I feel it's always important to earn as MUCH AS YOU CAN in as LITTLE TIME AS YOU HAVE as otherwise you are just underselling yourself!

Crikey @Lolly B I bet working as a debt advisor takes it out of you mentally 9-5 mon-fri!

I guess you are trying to find an escape as well as money from what you have learned here!

It definitely does Jon. I generally like helping people out of debt, but it's very demanding.

I would love to find an escape in the future and talking to people who have is very encouraging.
