Lots of websites run "advent calendar" type competitions with prizes every day from Dec 1 - 24th.

ahhhh I didn't know that either - sounds simple though when you say it now lol

I entered so many of these last year, Mothercare, Netmums, Blue Banana (to name a few I remember)...I can't wait for them to start again, I might be luck ;)

But, did you win? :)

I used to enter competitions years ago as well. In fact I'm still using my Dualit toaster I won over ten years ago. I enter them most days still and have won small items. I have a few bits put away for Christmas which is nice. I only enter what I can use or give as gifts. I won a pen the other day ;D

I've also been an avid comper in my time.

I did it for 6 weeks around Christmas 2008 and won quite a few things - a £100 TK Maxx voucher was my first win. Then I won loads of film prizes, with DVDs, soundtracks, hoodies etc. And I won a massive prize worth over £2k - tv, blueray (bare in mind this was 2008, the bluray player alone was worth about £500) and a big pile of boxsets, a cineworld year pass etc.

Then I got bored of entering hundreds of comps a day.

A couple of years later I went back to it.... sure enough, I won a few things but got bored.

I've done this a couple of times and have won some good things, but they are less and less (how can I compete with the £2k prize package?).

I did the advents last year and won loads of alcohol, and nothing else. Not even sweets etc that EVERYONE seemed to have won. I'm not sure I will be bothering this year, but I'll be interested to see how others are doing.

I would say that unless you're exceptionally lucky, you won't win enough to be able to consider it 'earning', or a valuable use of time. But the thrill of a win is amazing.

You can indeed. And, it'll only cost you one whole British Sterling pound. ;D

I had one actually - mine was a headset type but I stood on it, oooops. Stellajose said you can buy a different type. I'll ask her to come along to this thread and tell you more.......;)

But, then, Pheebs told me about another headset which was about 13 quid in Argos - it's the bee's knees. It makes me feel important ( and rather silly actually) when I wear it whilst talking to myself. :)

Yeah, I can confirm what queen says - you can get microphone headsets in Poundland, and also little ones with microphone and in ear headphones on that have two cables attached that you can plug into your PC/laptop. It's little but the quality is quite good. Tho I don't have a £13 one from Argos ;D

Only do the ITV and weekly magazine ones these days. Used to do a search on the green site everyday for the competitions closing that day but had little luck on those except the kids ones which I entered for my nephew who's won lots of Lego sets. Did much better with the brand competitions which involved buying a product and entering a code (sometimes they weren't unique so people would share on the forums). Won an iPod, Sony eReader, XBox, Nintendo DS, iPhone 3GS (which I've been using for Field Agent) and some prepaid money cards from Visa. Biggest prize were 2 x London 2012 opening ceremony package which were given to 4 other family members, also won some other games tickets.
More people are entering these days but the prizes on offer for each competition are still low so I've given up on those and the brand competitions and Visa have more strict terms and conditions.

Since I started this thread I've been doing competitions again - but am much more discerning this time! Only entering stuff I actually want to win rather than entering everything "just because".

Had my first win this morning - two tickets in the post for the Country Living Christmas Fair in Glasgow. Really wanted to go so set myself the mission of winning tickets rather than buying. Value of the tickets is probably only about £15 but chuffed to bits!

Well done! I have been entering a few here and there again too ... but maybe only 25 a week or something - after not doing so all year. Still, I only entered about 10 comps in Jan and I won £100 ASDA giftcard! (my last comping win)

I used to enter comps & more recently I used Loquax, however, I went on there having seen this thread & it's all changed. OK, so it appears that it changed getting for 2 years ago! I joined Loquax about 10 years ago, but now I can't do anything on it as I don't have loads of posts, but I can't post just about everywhere I looked as I don't have a high enough post count. I used to find the site good as I could see what I'd entered easily.

I have been comping a bit again these days as I am spending more time on the computer waiting for jobs. Mostly entering the TAB, That's life, and others for vouchers and cash, about 10-20 a day. Anyone a member of Quidco, they are having a cute little daily comp called Cookie Trail .. lots of small Amazon vouchers to be won.

Advents are here and I'm already two prizes in! I won a poster that I could design myself worth £15, and today I've won a "Judith Williams" skin care set - it looks as though it is worth at least £100, although I'll know more when it arrives.

Well done!

I was meaning to start the advents and we're already on the 9th and I just have NO time to do anything. I really don't know how I did it. Ha!

Good luck for the rest of them.
