Blogging isn't all glitz and glamour you know!!

I've spent most of the day fighting with Google Analytics to get my top 30 blog posts / landing pages and have been funnelling affiliate links into the content which has involved applying for affiliate networks for everything from perfume to webcamming! (one of my most popular posts is how to earn money as a webcam model!)

It's been a right chore of a job but hopefully, it will pay off. Logically it should since they are my most interacted posts so people already love clicking on the links on them it's just for some reason I'm an idiot and didn't make the links affiliate ones!!!

Not sure if you're aware and guessing you are (or if you'd be interested) but just in case, have you heard of Skimlinks? It scans your content looking for links to merchants and converts the links on the fly to affiliate links (they take a cut of the commission in return so it's not for everyone and you need to have the normal links in place already) but simplify's the process of applying to affiliate programs and amending links to affiliate links after the content is written.

Just on the note of boring blog stuff I've noticed that Disqus has now started hijacking the comments section and putting ads in to it so I need to find a new comments system to use now.

Might just use Jetpack since it's baked in!

Right, I spent about an hour battling with this and you can subscribe to the FREE membership on Disqus and then remove all that bloody adverts.

I've spent most of the afternoon doing blog admin too. Adding affiliate links, interlinking posts, making sure they are good SEO posts, adding better images etc. About to set up Pinterest for the blog so trying to get it looking good etc ready for that. Very boring way to spend a Sunday afternoon though.

Looking good. Did it take you long? I've got a half day on Wednesday so plan to get it sorted then. Nowhere near as many posts as you to get through thankfully.

That's pretty much what I'm planning to do. I like how all your pins are very similar. That's what I want so the style is instantly recognisable as from my blog. I think I just need to play around on Canva for a bit until I find one a design I like.

I've spent most of the night battling with Google Analytics

FOR SOME REASON it as only tracking visits from my own IP address on blog.themoneyshed.co.uk

so filters on etc so I deleted the entire account on GA and then set it up again and still it wouldn't show any any visitors to the site (not even in real time!)

Spoke to kloudhost and they found i had a plugin running that I had recently installed that was stopping the javascript on each page from talking to Google so it wasn't getting the data.

All working fine now but it's been doing my head in for the last few hours!!

Does Pinterest actually increase your income or is it a 'value add' that you can bolt on to an offer you make to a marketing partner?

The idea is that you upload a pinable image onto say your blog post about burgers in New York and give it a title like “great burger places to eat in New York for under $10’ and when people search for something around those terms on Pinterest they find your image which in turn clicks through to the blog post in question
