Hi all,

This is a bit of a strange request, but desperate times call for desperate measures (and I am desperate!).

Any keen festival goers among you will be aware that the annual scramble for Glastonbury tickets will be taking place on Sunday 4th October at 9am. I have tried on five previous occasions to get tickets and been unsuccessful every time - failure is NOT an option this year so I am trying to enlist some help. Here is how it works:

I am looking for anyone willing to assist me in trying to get hold of 2 tickets. There is a deposit of £50 per ticket at the time of booking, therefore there will be an initial outlay of £100 for whoever is lucky enough to get through. Upon receipt of the confirmation email (which should come through pretty much instantly), I will transfer by Paypal (or any other method you wish), the £100, plus an additional £20 for your trouble. The remaining balance of the ticket is then my responsibility to pay, you will have no further involvement once the deposit has been paid.

I understand a level of trust is involved here, but think of it like this: If I don't pay up, you contact See tickets and cancel the booking - I lose my Glastonbury tickets. This is NOT something I am going to allow to happen, I can assure you! :) I am also happy to use a go-between (Jon, perhaps, if he was willing?) if this offers any additional peace of mind. If there is another payment method that could resolve this problem that I'm unaware of please feel free to suggest it. I can't pay the £100 in advance to everyone, for obvious reasons.

Anyone wanting tickets has a registration number which can only be used once, so in the unlikely event that more than one person gets through, there is absolutely NO risk of both of them buying tickets under my number.

If you are trying for tickets yourself, think of it as a free £20 if you get through (you can buy up to 6 tickets in a transaction). If you are not, think of it as a bit of a competition for minimal effort and an opportunity to literally make someone very very happy by helping to fulfil their lifelong dream of attending Glastonbury! :D

If you fancy a go, please reply to this thread and if there is enough interest, I will post detailed instructions nearer the time. The basic gist is that you will need to be online at 9am pressing 'refresh' on your browser- it is that simple. I have enlisted the help of friends and family in the past but unless you really want the tickets or have a financial incentive, then the attempts to help have been a bit half hearted (I'm not convinced some of them actually got out of bed to be honest!)

Any questions please ask.

While I won't be able to help I really feel sorry for you having to use Seetickets for anything, having spent the morning trying to get Dismaland tickets, it really is a complete waste of time, I can't imagine how bad it will be for Glasto.

Thanks guys!

The money will be in your paypal as soon as the booking confirmation is received from See tickets, (which should be instant, or within an hour or two of booking at the most) :)

So what are your secrets to getting tickets [member=277]Chammy[/member] ?!

To maximise your chances you could also try for coach tickets, these go on sale at 7pm on the 1st October.

There will also be at least one official resale of returned tickets in April\May followed by more unannounced ones. If unsuccessful in October I'd recommend following things like the official Glastonbury twitter feed, Emily Eavis etc. Then after the balance payment window in April\May set these up to alert you when they tweet as they will mention any resales.

Failing all of this there is always the option to volunteer through organisations like Oxfam. You would need to do a few shifts while there but you get a free ticket.

Good advice, thanks. I've always known about the main resale but only recently heard about the smaller unannounced ones so I will certainly be keeping an eye on Twitter if I have non luck first time around.

I've thought about getting a coach package but my other half won't entertain the idea. He thinks it would be a nightmare to cart everything down (tent, ridiculous amounts of booze, etc), we normally have the whole car full to bursting with stuff. I suppose it depends how much you want to go doesn't it. (Him not as much as me clearly!)

Well 1 week today is ticket day! ;D

For anyone who might be able to help (and anyone wondering exactly what would be involved), here is exactly what you would need to do:

1. Tickets go on sale 9am sharp on Sunday 4th October, so you would need to be online in time and ready to go at 9.
2. Log on to glastonbury.seetickets.com
3. The above url should take you to a 'holding page' (you may have to refresh the page a few times before you get to that stage). You will know when you are on the holding page because you will see a message and a timer counting down to automatically refresh the page (I think it was a 30 second timer last year).
4. Once at the holding page, do not wait for the 30 seconds to count down. Instead, press F5 repeatedly to refresh as often as you can. I recommend every 5 seconds or so. I have been advised by ticket buying experts to press F5 rather than clicking refresh manually, although I have no idea of the science behind this.
5. Do not open multiple tabs within the same browser - this gives you no advantage. If you have more than one browser, you can open another window in that, as this is counted as a separate session - but again, keep it to a single tab per browser.
5. That's it. If one of us gets lucky, we will be directed to the booking page to enter the details and proceed with the booking. Apparently the booking page can time out, so if you are lucky enough to get through, please complete the booking before coming here to post that you have got through!

It is that simple. As I said before, they sold out within 25 minutes last year and it is expected to be even quicker this time around. If I manage to get through myself, I will post on here so that you do not waste any more time trying.

If you can help and fancy the chance to get an easy £20, please PM me and I will reply with our details (It is basically just our names, registration number and postcode - that is all you need to enter at the time of booking).

If anything is not clear, please do ask.

Its my 30th next year and Ive wanted to go since I was 14/15 but never had the chance. Would have loved to have gone next year but I probably a) wouldnt recruit anyone to my glasto possy (is that still a 'cool' term?!) and b) wouldnt be able to get childcare. I will go, just not yet :'(
