Hey,

I'm new here so this might have already been posted but you can make about £8 per 20 minutes by doing something called user experience testing. This is when you record your screen as you use a website or app in development and tell the developers how you feel when using the website and what they can do to improve their site. This is actually quite profitable if you're just sitting at your computer bored, because not only is it something fun to do (yes, it actually feels fun) but you also get paid for it.

Essentially its like completing a video survey - but it doesn't feel like a survey at all. Only rarely will you have to record your face with a webcam: most times all you will have to do is record your screen and your voice as you complete tasks going through a website. Each 'test' as they're commonly called takes roughly 20 minutes depending on the company you're testing for. The following is a list of companies you can be a tester for, in order of lucrativeness (in my personal experience):

UserTesting
TryMyUI
Intellizoom
Userlytics
Userfeel
WhatUsersDo (I havent used this)
TestingTime (I havent used this)(Needs webcam for all tests but is significantly better paid [reaching £60 at a time])
Testbirds (Recommended by @Annie Beau )
None of these are referral links, don't worry that I'm gaining anything off your backs ;)

There are a couple more not on this list, but these are the best ones. In just 3 days of active duty (not full days, more like 2 hours a day) , after signing up to these sites, I have made $50 with another $30 on the way (pending).
Now to sign up for these sites you will have to do qualification tests, and wait for them to be approved, but if you are patient, once you get started you end up making quite a bit.
You can and should sign up for more than just one of these sites in order to maximise the amount of money you can earn. You can test on PC, mobile and a bunch of other devices.

There's more I could say but if you go the individual sites you'll learn all about it and you can get set up. A lot of you here will know about this but I just didn't see a post on it so I made one :).
Have any questions? Reply to this thread and me or someone who is more experienced with these sites than me can help you :D

This topic has certainly been covered but there are a few names new to me on the list. I notice they are mostly American based. Any issues with not receiving many tests or being screened out if you are outside the US?

Hey
Yes they are mostly American based, but you still get plenty of tests. You are only shown tests that available to your demographics so you wont be screened out if you are not in the US no. On average I'd say at least 30 tests come in each day; US citizens may get more but I think the amount that we get is still enough :D

Not at all. Essentially what happens is you tell them your PayPal email and using that they send you payment for each of your completed tests. This comes into your PayPal account in USD, but from that I then convert it into GBP as I withdraw it from my PayPal into my bank account.

Great stuff!

I’ll have a look at applying for the ones I’ve not heard of tomorrow...

You not got any affiliate links for them at all?

Unfortunately none of them have any sort of affliate programs, but UserTesting and TryMyUI are both apparently developing some to come soon. But thanks anyway :)

So you need a webcam for this, right? I wish I had one at times like this :D

Only for some of them. Webcams do greatly increase the amount of money you can earn though. I just had to turn down two $60 (£50) tests due to not having a webcam. It's probably a good investment..

Ah at least it isn't a dealbreaker. Which site do you prefer from those listed? I have already completed a few Intellizoom ones but I don't like the fact there's no way to check what you have done on their site and it's taking forever to get a reward.

My favourite is UserTesting. They are the most organised and professional on the list. They guarantee that you're paid exactly 7 days after you complete a test (down to the very minute). I just did a test about an hour ago. I've not had any problems with UserTesting, they are by far the best and you should definitely use them.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Their website seems to suggest you need a webcam/mic to do theirs but I'll take your word for it :)

Yeah I don’t think I’ve ever done this sort of work without the minimum of a mic

You could also add Test Birds to your list. I've recently joined. Havent had any work yet. Thr initial test takes about 45 minutes - reviewing a site and uploading screen shots. No webcam or mic on the one I did.

sigh

I remember the days of WhatUsersDo paying £15 per test for them... Used to be a GREAT earner!
