Came across this today. May be a good opportunity for someone on here who wants to earn a more regular income from home.

Title: Neighbourhood Membership Promoters, FMR Solutions
Status: Part-time seasonal (typically March to October)
Salary: Commission based
Location: All areas
Closing date: Ongoing

Would you like to earn some extra income by doing something that you really believe in? Do you have around 16 hours a week to spare, during weekday evenings and/or weekend afternoons? Would you like to help the Scottish Wildlife Trust achieve its aim of finding 50+ new members in your area and beyond?

Home based, you will be working for FMR Solutions Ltd, a specialist wildlife charity membership recruitment agency, on behalf of the Scottish Wildlife Trust. The work is seasonal, typically March – October.

You will receive a guaranteed hourly rate of £8 during a two-week trial/training period. Subsequent earnings are commission based – expect £575-£975 per month on a self-employed basis.

If you'd like to know more about this post and apply, please visit the FMR Solutions website or email j.leathart@btinternet.com

If you get £8 an hour during the trial week I would say that is long enough to work out if you like doing the work or not

This sounds really interesting, but a little vague, in terms of what the job entails. Trying to guess from what you have said, if the job is about cold calling to drum up membership for the organization and donations. Or is it about going out into the local towns in your area and canvasing for donations. Or is the job more admin, where you act as a liaison for the organization recruiting volunteers. Do you have any more details?

It seems to be cold calling ie.

'Would you like to sign up to have a direct debit setup on your account to give money to us'

"Chuggers" then? (charity muggers)

For a while they were the scurge of our high street and it was a very unpleasant experience attempting to negotiate your way past them. I felt a liitle bit sorry for them as they were only doing their job, but surely it was counter-productive for the charities involved as it gave a bad impression I thought - some of them were annoyingly persistent and by the time the third clipboard-wielder leaps out in front of you, you're ready to swing for them! And maybe make a mental note not to support whichever charity they were trying to sign you up to.

I think the council had to give in and stop allowing them to canvas so often here, as the shop owners unlucky enough to have a flock of them loitering outside their premises were noticing potential customers crossing the street to avoid them. It certainly isn't a job I'd fancy
