How do you get to earning money with them? Is it all about the followers or being VERY good at the particular game you are showcasing?
I would say it is VERY hard work to earn via Twitch, it isn't just about being good at the game you are showcasing, you need the personality that make people want to watch you over other people. Primarily revenue can be made through adverts on your channel while you stream but if people have ad-blocker on then they wont see them, I know I don't when I watch the channels I watch. There is the monthly subscription fee that you can get viewers to pay but you need minimum requirements before you can implement that and even then you need to make sure you are giving your subscribers enough for their money.
I love watching Dodger, Wowcrendor, JesseCox and TotalBiscuit and most weeks I watch the Co-optional Podcast but even then I refuse to subscribe because all I get is the ability to chat and a few custom icons to use in that chat.
Most of the people who make any money on there are those who are already well established Youtubers so their followers happily watch them live. I remember watching Wowcrendor opening about 120 packs of Hearthstone cards the other week that his followers had bought for him.
I sometimes stream and my highest viewer count was while playing Hearthstone, it was 3. One being the guy I was playing against and another was myself making sure it was running smoothly as I was testing some new software.
Also I wouldn't even think about getting into it just now, Twitch are in talks with Youtube who have offered them a very nice sum of money to take over the service.
