I'm waiting for this one to take off over here - I've had the app over a year. I don't think they're bothering with it though.
My main issue with it is you have to apply for the 'gig' & then wait to hear if you're allocated it. Even if I apply today knowing I'll be in that town tomorrow, you won't hear in time. I'm used to either checking whilst I'm at a location or accepting a job in advance & know I'll be in a certain town on a certain day.
My next issue is if you have a question, you send it directly to the client. All well & good, but if I'm completing a job, I need an answer ASAP (like FA do - usually). I ended up contacting Gigwalk & asking for it to be de-allocated as I hadn't had a reply. They told me they couldn't, the client would answer my question / de-allocate it. I never heard from the client & it was eventually de-allocated. Even if they'd answered the question, I wouldn't have travelled back to the town to complete the gig.
Gigwalk said it wouldn't affect my standing.
Another negative post about an app...
The most recent thing I've seen is a couple of pharmacy visits. $34 - great (not near enough for me to do as the nearest was 2 hour drive away). What did you have to do? Covertly take over 100 photos of all the shelves, aisles, promotions etc. Yes that isn't a typo, over 100. Covertly. I'm used to covertly taking photos in shops, mainly supermarkets. How can they seriously expect you to take over 100 covertly in a small pharmacy without being noticed? If I'd done one I think I'd still be trying to upload / send the photos.
Despite never having completed a gig & only applying for 1 (abandoned), I am in the top 10% of Gigwalkers with an above average performance.
They obviously do a lot of gigs in the States as there are often gigs worth thousands of $ in cities.
