Still keen to do this but I can't find ANYTHING on my local council website about it
Classic North Tyneside.
Whether there are local elections for your Council depends on where it is, what type of Council you have (metropolitan/non-metropolitan , Unitary/two tier) and how the Councillors are elected (some Councils have an election every 4 years for the whole Council, others have an election for a third of the Council for three years out of four). In short, it's quite complicated!

The list of Councils having elections this year is on Wikipedia

No North Tyneside, but there's South Tyneside!

I'm going to be presiding officer this time. More cash which is nice of course... I just hope it doesn't actually make it stressful.

Either way...many many biscuits will be consumed.

Can't do the May one this year cos of childcare, but it's such an easy way to get a bit of cash! Last time we had a general I did the count after and got £150. Had to work all night but better than earning nothing in bed :)

Yeah! This conservative lady basically accused us of not counting properly and it was so close we had to do a recount! (needless to say it was the same result second time round)
I worked the same one where Ed balls lost and demanded a recount at bloody 7am!!

No comment on the whole Brexit process, but if we do end up having European parliament elections, local Councils will no doubt be desperate for staff because it's quite short notice (I've already been asked about my availability), so you might want to keep an eye out. Any elections would be held on Thursday 23rd May, and the count would be held on the evening of Sunday 26th May.

Slow start at the polls. I've eaten more biscuits than we've had voters!

You not working tonight then?

In some ways I'm a bit sad I'm not working the night as crazy as that sounds but on the flip side I get to enjoy my birthday for the first time in 10 years tomorrow without a SERIOUS lack of sleep!

Happy Birthday!

No I only do the poll day itself and also any poll card delivery work and canvassing I am offered. I'd be happy to do the count but it is always oversubscribed for some reason.

Profitable month with everything going on electionwise.

Hello,
The European elections will be held on Thursday the 23rd May.
My council is hiring presiding officers (£240 for the day + £50 for the training session) and poll clerks (£124 for the day + £50 for the training session). I guess other councils up and down the country might be doing the same. It's not a 'Earn money online'/'Make money from home' opportunity, but I thought some people might be interested! Was not quite sure where to post this though, sorry Jon!
