Hope it all went OK @luckyj142 - It can be a long day can't it!
It was long but I quite enjoyed it to be honest. Ate some biscuits, read a book and a half and managed to do some Appen work and several Prolific tasks during quiet spells.

Bring on June 8th!

How was it for you?

We actually have a fallow year this year so if it wasn't for the general election I would have been election free this year!!

Got my info through this morning. So excited because I'll be in Worcester Guildhall this time (https://www.worcester.gov.uk/guildhall). It will be odd being somewhere different & with different people this time. The count is usually at the Guildhall so hoping I've been posted there because I'm counting also :)

Just had confirmation I'm counting - but it's not at the Guildhall so I'll have to scoot over to another location. Luckily it's on the way home & not t'other side of the river like the previous General Election :) Training session this evening.

I emailed my council last week asking if they had any positions available, offer letter in the post to be a counter, no experience of this (other than watching it in the telly!), any tips?

Sleep in the daytime!!!

Hahaha! Think I'll be too excited to sleep, really looking forward to seeing what happens behind the scenes. Imagine it's not quite as glam as it seems...

Trust me, It's not!!

The scanning of thousands of postal votes each day has stated with us now anyway so there's no turning back now!!

Got home at 3.30am. Feeling like the living dead today though!

My polling station was crazy busy. Didn't go anywhere near my book! We were in the same building as the elections office which we thought would be an advantage when it came to queries but it was the opposite. The PO was hardly there as he sorted out endless replacement postal votes & other queries. Lots of people coming to us when they should be somewhere else. And the list of voters was so difficult to use because some flats where listed alone & some where listed on the street they are on. Liked being on a busy polling station but hated the queries & people getting frustrated about having to wait for replacement postals or (mostly students) not being registered because they didn't respond to info requests from the council. However, no "pen-gate" this time :D

The count was exciting though. Very close but fortunately no recount!

3:30am .. nice

I started work at 8am Thursday and We had our FIRST RESULT at 3am Friday and we had 8 wards to cover which we were doing over 2 completely different sites so we kept having to go between them constantly. Our last declaration was around 5:30am and then had to spend about another hour decommissioning various bits of ICT equipment and I've been at work ever since lol

Think I am past the point of even being tired now lol

One of Our biggest issue of the night was power tripping out consantly in various rooms the bbc / sky etc were all using. It's all well and good using lovely civic buildings but some of them have got some REALLY old infrastructure!

Sad I missed out on this - didn't get organised in time.

However the way things are going - it looks like we won't have to wait too long for another election!
