Last year I went to a public meeting about a planned 'gasification plant' near where I live. Basically, a plant that would burn down the rubbish we can no longer export to China, and won't be able to export to Germany/Norway after Brexit. I was pleasantly surprised to see that about 2 dozens people had showed up... however half a dozen of them (little old ladies and little old gentlemen) left before the meeting even started. They had seen the meeting advertised as they walked past, and had just turned up to get free biscuits and tea!!!It’s all about the biscuits
Haha lib debs can say literally anything they will never get into powerI went to an event yesterday featuring Vince Cable. He wants a General Election and 2nd Referendum on the same day next May. Wouldn't that be fun to work on?
Have they not got an elections team you can contact?Nothing on North Ayrshire website (As yet)
I've sent the "Contact-Us" an e-mail.Have they not got an elections team you can contact?
That’s a long way of writing “please contact us next week”Just had a message bak from the council:
Until the House of Lords approves the Bill and it receives Royal Assent there is no General Election. Until the Returning Officer receives the Writ from the Queen commanding him to hold an Election we are unable to progress with any bookings or staff appointments.
I'll keep checking the site once it has all been approved
See I've never done that role before. I've only even done the 'show up at night for counting' one which seemed to mainly be about eating haribo inbetween the counting! It's a nice little earner just before Christmas, but people who want to work as a Poll Clerk for the first time just need to remember that it's for 16 hours work (15 hours that the poll is actually open+ 1 hour setting up/taking down of equipment) and of course it will be taxed if you're a taxpayer.
At my Council you are also not allowed to leave the Polling Station at any point during the day (though you get breaks for meals up until 5 p.m.)
Well the leaders are on the campaign trail now so I'm not sure they can hold out much longer saying they aren't recruiting yet!Just had a message bak from the council:
