Where I live the poll clerk positions are always taken by the same pair of old geezers who have been doing all of them for years. They remind me of those two old hecklers from the muppet show. I think they'll still be doing it from their grave!
yeah election work does tend to be like that. I used to see the same faces every year back in Leeds which was nice if you were part of it but a bloody nightmare to get in the door if you were trying to do postal vote counting or poll clerk work to earn money!

My better half is an exam invigilator. Where we are they have a lot of people who decided not to go back to being invigilators when schools re-opened.

My election training is on Tuesday. Riveting stuff.

I would wonder about the exam invigilator role too, I didn't realise covid cases were sky rocketing so much until I just saw a post - 1,475 deaths in the last week and schools must be rife. My daughter has caught it for the second time and she is triple vaxxed.

I've had a letter from one of the Councils that I occasionally work on the elections for, asking about my availability for elections on 4th May 2023!

Bear in mind that if you put your name forward to work as a Poll Clerk or Presiding Officer, that these elections will be the first to have voter ID, so you'll be checking driving licences or passports as well as handing out ballot papers (though it's not too onerous)
