I decided to try emailing some companies this week asking if they had any vouchers or coupons. Has anyone tried this before?

I ALWAYS do this if I am going on holiday somewhere.

You have nothing to lose so you might as well spend 10 mins flinging a few emails out

I haven't tried it myself but I did read online somewhere (from a forum on British 'Extreme Couponing') that British companies don't tend to be as free with sending out vouchers as American ones are, especially if you're messaging them solely to ask for vouchers and that you're more likely to be sent a free sample or similar.

Worth a go, though!

If I ever have dissatisfaction with a brand then I'll email and then they do tend to send decent enough vouchers as compensation, but I guess usually that means you have to send them information (barcodes, dates, store location etc.) about the faulty product.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it though!

Definitely worth trying - as long as you're polite they can easily say no.

I used to email quite a few cosmetic companies too and see if they had any samples before buying.

I've emailed 5 companies so far. Got 4 no's and 1 yes and got a £1.50 voucher.

You can also subscribe on their newsletter. Just visit their website and sign up in the landing pages. In this way, you are informed whenever they have coupons or discounts without emailing them.

Brilliant idea, probably wouldn't take long to email a decent number of companies too :)

I keep meaning to do this. But i never know how to ask, what wording to use, without sounding bad.

Same :-/ I've heard writing to say how much you love the product sometimes works!
