I got a Nokia Lumia 520 last September. At just over a month old it developed a fault with the power button. It went back to carphone warehouse to be repaired. A month later I got the phone back and it worked well for a while.

Around 2-3 months later I noticed the volume up button has started to not work all the time, when it totally stopped working I contacted Nokia and got it repaired through them. (They seemed a lot better and they only took a week to get my phone back to me!)

Two weeks after having it back the power button stopped working again and it started turning itself off randomly so my phone went back to Nokia again.

I got it back today and and already the phone has turned itself off and I can only turn it on again if I plug it back in, and the power button is only working some of the time.

I have called Nokia and they say that the phone passed all the tests whilst they had it but to send it back again for their technicians to look at it again.

I don't think this is good for a phone that is only 7 months old. How many repairs to I have to have before I am entitled to a new phone?

Having both an apple personal phone and a Samsung android work phone I can't say enough how good apples aftercare has been

Take phone into store with fault
Swapped infront of you with a new one

No arguments or having to justify the problem or issue

Guess Carphone warehouse / Nokia are not the same

Yes carphone warehouse is separate to nokia. nokia have been a lot more helpful but unfortunately their nearest care centre is an hours drive away. carphone warehouse didn't really want to help the first time due to the fault appearing 2 days after their 30 day warranty, if it had appeared before the 30 days they would have replaced the handset and then they blamed the fault on my giffgaff sim card (!!!).

At that point I would have ceased dealing with them.. morons

I am totally gutted, I dropped my phone this morning (on to carpet!) and the screen cracked!

Well i guess that's solved my problem as the warranty is no longer valid and I have just throw £80 phone down the drain! I'm so annoyed.

Man alive that is some bad luck right there!

Go and buy an android or apple phone and FACTOR in just how much you can earn via Field Agent and Roamler and the like

i'm planning on getting an android phone next time. I'll be using my husbands only HTC one x when he upgrades next month, but in the meantime I'm back to my old HTC Desire s, its a good phone except parts of the screen aren't working but its better than the nokia one!

I'll have a read up about Field Agent and Roamler.. they sound interesting.

I am left wondering what else is going to break, things happen in threes don't they.. mind you my car had been playing up for a while so maybe its that (it had a slight head gasket problem)

Is it Android? If so, have a look on here for threads on the Roamler and Streetspotr apps that can earn you money. There are others too but I can't remember their names!

I do empathise with you - I got a new Android smartphone a couple of weeks ago and it's taking me a while to get to grips with its huge capabilities after struggling for a year with an entry level Windows Phone. Unlike you I don't have the benefits of one of those young people who were weaned on smartphones to turn to for advice!
